Editor,
Our grandfathers and our grandmothers taught their grandchildren these biblical verses. Our elders did not know the teachings were written in God’s words, too. You look up the biblical verses. Then write the (verses) down in your notebook for future reference. (You’ll be glad you did when you have turned 50. Start your own research on grandparents’ teachings – na’nitin).
Matthew 15:19-20 – Doo t’áá ádzaagóó yájilti’ da. Hajéí biyidéé’ hahwiileehii nechxó’ógo ntsáhákees: diné naatseed; adilyé; na’ageh bee tsi’na’ádá’ ani’íi’; wooch’íí dgo hané; t’áá ádzaagóó aa hane’ ádaat’éi diné niiyiilchooh. Ref: Navajo Bible. What does it say in English?
1 Corinthians 5:1 and 5: Halakéí doo baa njít’íi da, Tsíjahjilwo’. Yíiyah! was a warning from our Navajo elderly not to commit incest with our close blood relatives, especially our brothers, sisters, and cousins. Dinéjí, Iich’ahii as an epilepsy is caused by a brother and a sister making love. You give yourself to Satan’s temptation to play with fire; accidentally burning yourself severely; commit incendiarism and try to go nude in public. Ask your grandparents to tell you more about Iich’ahii. Is there a cure for it? Also, look up Matthew 17:18 about what the illness of Iich’ahii – epilepsy will do to a person.
Ná’iich’ahii – spasm, fit, convulsion, attributed to incest. Ref: A Grammar and Colloquial Navajo Dictionary, by Young and Morgan, page 555.
Run – Hayoolkááldáá náádiilwo’. Doo t’óó dzizíi da. Hahgosha’ ch’éédíídzilgo ndidíínah? Proverbs 6:9.
Diyin Dine’é nááts’íilid t’ah yee deiyikaah. Dílwoshgo bitah yilwol. Ndeeltihii t’áála’í nítínígo t’áa’altsoji’ ádaa áháyá yee nda’ádíntaah.
Éidí woobiihii ádoodiilii bee dahodooleel yiniyé ádaat’í, ndi nihí woobiihii hool’áágóó hólóonii biniyé ádeiit’í. 1 Corinthians 9:25.
Doo akéé dashdiilyeed da. Azahjilwo’. Proverbs 7:24-27.
Your turn. Doo ajidláa da. Proverbs 31. Find the verses online. Become a doctor of scriptures and Diné Bizaad. You teens, with your parents, what does Proverbs 15:14 and 16:03 and 16:20 say?
Then read Proverbs 29, 30, and 31 for your precious adulthood.
