Free-roaming horse dilemma in Dził Łibáí

Editor,
Here at the Greymountain area, Western Agency, there is a major problem with the free roaming wild horses. This part of the area does not get enough rain during the summer monsoon season, which makes it very hard for the wild horses.

There is only one place for them to drink water and that’s at the windmill, but the windmill does not supply enough water. People volunteer to haul water daily.

The people with livestock and area ranchers with grazing permits haul water for their herds, getting water from the water station in Cameron, Arizona. Most of us drive 30 to 40 miles round trip every two to three days. Imagine how much that costs us.

Every day we pray for rain. The drought is like a cancer. We would all be happy if there was a cure.

Thank you for rounding up the wild horses, it’s hard work but that needs to happen.

Cameron Chapter needs to do more for the dry conditions we are dealing with at Greymountain, Arizona.

People voted for Montoya on Nygren ticket

Editor,
I see one thing that should have happened at the Navajo Nation Council’s opening season: the Vice President should have asserted herself as the representative of the ONNPVP by making the State of the Nation address, even if it was ad-hoc. Or she should have had a backup speech she wrote in case something happened and she has to be thrusted in the limelight. I mean she was already there anyways.

One other solution: the NN Council should pass clear legislation that outlines or strengthens the position and make it super clear that position is second-in-command after the President, before any executive staffers or directors. After all, the people voted for her too on that ticket. This also includes an articulated line of succession in case of emergency or if the worst should ever happen to a sitting NN president in still in office. The US government & all state governors have this clearly written & codified into law.
