To check off a requirement to graduate from Arizona State University in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism led to having once-in-a-lifetime experiences in my own home

What is Valentine’s Day for us Natives? For the Native culture, it’s very unlikely and uncommon for a guy to express his feelings toward a female. It’s almost like the song “chizzi” from the late Vincent Craig. (Shhhttt was all it took) or even asking a girl to dance with you at a local chapter house with Aces Wild performing.

Donovan Quintero, Quentin Jodie, and I took the reins of the Navajo Times’s news-editorial department three months ago.

Enthusiastic about taking the wheel of the paper, we committed ourselves to work seven days a week because we had to be prepared for the unexpected.

In the coming months, the Navajo Times will continue to transition.

Into what––I’m not exactly sure.
