24 years of laughter: ‘James and Ernie Comedy’ becomes a voice for healing

When James Junes and Ernie Tsosie III first walked onto a stage together nearly a quarter-century ago, they didn’t have a roadmap for where laughter might take them. What began as a few opening acts for casino shows and community events has since carried them from Shiprock to Alaska, from the Navajo Nation to stages across the world.
In May 2026, James and Ernie Comedy will celebrate 25 years together. Their partnership, defined by humor and endurance, has survived the long drives, missed flights, canceled shows, and the personal trials that come with building a career one crowd at a time.
