Officials for the Gallup Police Department are still saying that a Navajo police woman will be charged for fleeing the scene of an accident that occurred within the city limits on Dec. 27.

Farrell Bowman, 29, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation who resides in Fruitland, N.M., was sentenced Dec. 1 in federal court in Albuquerque, to six years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

On Nov. 5 at approximately 9:10 a.m., a woman contacted several Arizona Department of Public Safety officers on North Highway 89 and told them she found the body of a deceased person at a temporary campsite off of Fat Manus Loop Trail, according to a news release from the Coconino County Sheriffus Office.

Detectives located one half pound of methamphetamine, one handgun, and drug paraphernalia, numerous false identification cards, drivers licenses, and numerous altered credit cards.

James, 22, of Phoenix, has been accused of second-degree murder in the death of an Iyanbito woman in July, 2014.
