Wife accused of stabbing husband
GALLUP
A domestic violence incident in Gallup on Dec. 18 sent one Window Rock man to Gallup Indian Medical Center while his wife of two months went to county jail, accused of stabbing him.
Georgina Gordy, 34, was charged with aggravated battery against a household member and abuse of a child.
Gallup police were dispatched to the Alon Gas station at 550 North Highway 491 about 7:30 p.m. where they found Joaquin Ornelas Sr. in the doorway of the station bleeding from the arm.
They also found Gordy sitting in the passenger seat of the family vehicle holding a black sheath holding three throwing knives. She was ordered to put down the knives and when she did, she was handcuffed and patted down to see if she had any other weapons.
Police also found a two-year-old boy in the middle back seat.
As Gordy was being placed in a patrol car, police called a medical unit to take care of Ornelas Sr. who was overheard telling the medical personnel that his wife had stabbed him. Medical technicians found five stab wounds to the right side of his body.
