Gallup PD needs help ID’ing remains
GALLUP
Police need help to identify the remains of a man they say appears to be a Native American.
“We’re going to need the media to see if anyone is missing a loved one,” Lt. Rosanne Morrissette of the Gallup Police Department, said.
The victim was found wearing black pants with a black belt, black lace-up shoes, white socks, and a long-sleeved white shirt with a blue checker pattern on it. Police said the victim had long hair, but decomposition had made identification difficult.
Police said the body was found just north of Four Corners Welding between Route 66 and I-40 in a ditch near the train tracks.
“He’d been there for a few weeks,” Morrissette said.
A male led the police to the location, where he said he had seen the body some days earlier.
Police said they do not suspect foul play, but an autopsy at the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque should determine the cause of death.
