Kayenta student killed exiting bus

WINDOW ROCK

A Kayenta Unified School District student was reportedly killed while exiting a school bus Tuesday.

According to Navajo Nation Police Chief Phillip Francisco, a vehicle struck the student in Chilchinbeto, Arizona, which is between Many Farms and Kayenta.

Francisco said he was not able to provide more details, but the driver of the vehicle that hit the student was immediately apprehended and is currently in custody.

School administrators said schools were closed today and would be providing counseling services for students and faculty.
