WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the nation watched President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, a group of Navajos from the Southwest were among the attendees. These groups, who call themselves “Navajos for Trump,” made the long drive from their homes in the Navajo Nation to witness the historic event.
Francine Bradley-Arthur, a retired Navajo Police lieutenant, was part of the group of about 20 Navajos who made the trip.
She and Cindy Kinlicheenie braved the cold winter January afternoon, perhaps hoping to catch a glimpse of Trump enter the Capital One Arena, where he spoke to tens of thousands of his supporters and shared their reasons for supporting Trump.
“We came out here on behalf of ‘Navajos for Trump.’ We got invited to be part of the Navajo contingent, but they canceled it, so there were about 20 of us making the best of our trip,” she said on Monday.
