The Navajos 4 Trump group will be participating in the presidential parade from the U.S. Capitol to the White House on Jan. 20.

The parade will begin at 3rd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, near the Canadian Embassy.

The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee announced the initial list of groups that have accepted invitations to participate in the 60th Presidential Inauguration, after President Donald J. Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance take the oaths of office.

Nearly 7,500 participants from 23 states represent diverse Americans, including various veteran groups, first responders, high school and university marching bands, equestrian groups, and among other groups. Traditionally, each branch of the United States Armed Forces will be represented. The Navajos 4 Trump will march under the U.S. Marine umbrella.

The Navajos 4 Trump group anticipates about 16 individuals participating in the parade. The Navajos 4 Trump participants will be paying for their participation and contributing to their group’s expenses. Because the group has a limited time to prepare a full-size float, it will decorate a vehicle outfitted with a 10-foot Navajos 4 Trump banner, and display the Navajo Nation, New Mexico, and Arizona flags. Participants will wear their traditional outfits.

Mike Woestehoff, from Ganado, Arizona, said on Jan. 14, “The parade is a way to show visibility, presence, and permanence for the Navajo Republicans, to continue to be seen and be proud of who we voted for and making sure our elected officials are held accountable. (Also to show) We’re proud of who we voted for.”

Inaugural parades have a long history, dating back to President George Washington’s first election in 1789. Impromptu crowds of supporters followed him as he traveled from Mount Vernon to New York City. Presidents Adams and Jefferson also had spontaneous parades that continued until the inauguration of President James Madison in 1809, when they became an official part of the event.
