RDC presses housing authority on transparency, veteran support, lease delays

The Resources and Development Committee called for stronger oversight of the Navajo Housing Authority during a Nov. 3 session, citing concerns about stalled homeownership, veterans’ housing issues and vacant board seats affecting major financial decisions.
Navajo Housing Authority Interim Chief Executive Officer Levon Henry and Chief Operating Officer Ernest Franklin presented an update covering housing development, expenditure plans, board vacancies and ongoing work to clear master leases that have prevented families from receiving full title to their homes.
Delegate Brenda Jesus, the chair of the RDC, said greater accountability is needed as NHA continues managing projects across the Nation.
