Raymond Charles Cometsevah
GALLUP
Funeral services for Raymond Charles Cometsevah, Wo-cha-nes-tos (Whistling Elk), 61, will be held today, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Burial will follow in Clinton, Oklahoma.
Raymond was born Aug. 29, 1956, in Clinton. He died Dec. 24, 2017, in Gallup.
Raymond graduated from Clinton High School in May 1974 and was employed with Wingate High School in Fort Wingate, New Mexico, from 1980 to May 2017.
Raymond enjoyed working with students at Wingate High School, playing chess and tennis, and gourd dancing. He was an Oakland Raiders, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma Sooner fan.
Raymond is survived by his children, Amanda Cometsevah of Church Rock, New Mexico, Raelynn Cometsevah of Albuquerque, and Arlen Cometsevah of Gallup; wife, Yolanda Cometsevah of Fort Wingate; mother, Virginia Cometsevah; sisters, Winona Cometsevah, Dr. Cecelia Cometsevah and Susan Cometsevah; brother, Michael Cometsevah; and four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Raymond is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cometsevah; and grandparents, Laird and Lucy Cometsevah of Clinton, and Stewart and Jennie Barton of Gallup.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arlen Cometsevah, Michael Cometsevah, Brandon Barber, Sheldon Barber, Tobias Reynolds, Darryl Smith and Garrison Platero.
The Cometsevah family will receive relatives and friends at the home of Virginia Cometsevah (505 Cactus Road) in Gallup, following the service.
Rollie Mortuary and Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
Richmond Lucine Overturf
LOW MOUNTAIN, Ariz. — Gravesite service for Richmond Lucine Overturf, 31, of Low Mountain, Arizona, will be held Friday, Dec. 29, in Low Mountain, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Jackson Williams officiating.
Richmond was born Nov. 29, 1986, in Chinle, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan). He died Dec. 22, 2017, in Low Mountain.
Richmond liked to raise dogs and enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with his family.
Richmond is survived by his companion, Amber Uentillie; daughter, Leah Overturf; parents, Marguerita Denny and Richard Overturf; brother, Ripheal Overturf; and grandparents, Martha Joe and Max Denny.
Richmond is preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Overturf.
A reception will take place at the Pillowhill, located at Martha Joe’s residence.

Lee McCork
GALLUP — Funeral services for Lee McCork, 89, were held Dec. 27 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Mexican Springs, New Mexico.
Lee was born Feb. 19, 1928, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tl’ógí (Hairy Ones Clan). His nali is Kinyaa’áanii; chei is Tl’ógí. He died Dec. 20, 2017.
Lee was a lifetime medicine man and craftsman.
Lee is survived by his daughters, Annie M. McCray of Tsayatoh, New Mexico, and Betty McCork of Gallup; and sons, Larry McCork of Rock Springs, New Mexico, and Jerry McCork, Melvin McCork and Albert McCork, all of Mexican Springs.
Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen McCork.
Pallbearers were Albert McCork, Marcus McCork, Christopher McCork, Andrew Garcia, Gary Wilson and Robert Miller.
Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Stella Shirley
GALLUP — Funeral services for Stella Shirley, 76, were held Dec. 27 at the Gallup Church of God with Rev. Harry Begay officiating. Interment followed at the family plot in Tohlakai, New Mexico.
Stella, a homemaker all her life, was born June 3, 1941, in Tohlakai, into the Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan). She died Dec. 21, 2017, in Gallup.
Stella is survived by her sons, Arthur F. Shirley Jr. and Delbert F. Shirley; daughters, Ardellia Shirley and Cynthia Chee; and sister, Susie Watson.
Stella is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Shirley Sr.; son, Wilmer Shirley Sr.; father, Theodore Kinsel; mother, Clara Kinsel; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dewyett Shirley, Jeremy Russell, Michael Bennett, Carletts Henry, Junior Chee and Chris Tom.
Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
