Kenneth Bill Jr.

GALLUP – Funeral services for Kenneth Bill Jr., 68, of Gallup, will be held Friday, April 18, at 10 a.m., at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Pastor Jacob officiating. Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Kenneth Bill Jr., Nov. 14, 1956 – April 3, 2025

Kenneth was born Nov. 14, 1956, in Jeddito, Arizona, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). He passed away April 3, 2025, in Farmington.

Kenneth attended Tohatchi High School and was employed as a world-renowned silversmith. He was his family’s Macgyver and loved taking walks and being at the park with his grandchildren. He enjoyed Word searches, watching Western and a variety of movies, dancing, and listening to country and classic rock music.

Kenneth is survived by his sons, Shawn Bill, Preston Bill and Quintan Bill; daughters, Priscilla Billie and Shawna Bill; brother, Emerson Bill; sisters, Eleanor Bill-McCabe, Ellen Myrtle Bill, Clara Valenzuela, and Arlene Bill; and six grandchildren.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Bill; sons, Manuel Billie Jr. and Nicholas Y. Bill; parents, Desbah Bill (Gee) and Kenneth Y. Bill Sr.; brothers, Leonard Bill and Lorenzo Bill; sister, Ruth K. Bill; and nephews, Steven Bill and Darin Bill.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Bill, Preston Bill, Quintan Bill, Kane Tom, and Ariya Tom.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kane Tom and Ariya Tom.

A reception will take place at the Gamerco Church of God in Gamerco, New Mexico, following services.

Albert V. Stewart Jr.

BLOOMFIELD, N.M. – Graveside service for Albert Vernon Stewart Jr., 62, of Albuquerque, will be held Saturday, April 19, at the Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission (240 Highway 57) in Bloomfield, New Mexico, with Pastor Sean O’Connor of First Nations Gathering officiating. If attending, please wear navy blue.

Albert Vernon Stewart Jr., Nov. 14, 1956 – April 3, 2025

Albert was born July 29, 1962, to Gladys (Wero) Stewart of Nageezi, New Mexico, and Albert Stewart of Black Rock, Arizona. He passed away April 12, 2025, in Albuquerque, surrounded by close family.

Albert was Naakaii Dine’é (Mexican Clan), born for the Kiowa people. His maternal grandfather was Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People), and his paternal grandfather was Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water).

Albert was born on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, and resided in Nageezi, Phoenix, and Albuquerque. He attended Navajo Mission and graduated from Gallup High School and Crownpoint Institute of Technology (Navajo Tech). After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the 1982 Lebanon War.

Most of his working life, Albert worked as a laborer. He enjoyed painting, drawing, and listening to music. He was also a loving uncle, cousin, and friend, who was always happy to help others and spend time with his nieces and nephews. He also supported in caretaking for his mother when she became an elder.

Albert is survived by his sister, Beverly Stewart; brother, Edmond Stewart; nieces, Jaime Gloshay, Lauren Cramer and Stephanie Stewart; nephews, Seth Gloshay and Reese Stewart; and five grandchildren.

Albert is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Stewart; father, Albert Stewart; and brothers, Edwin Stewart and Franklin Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Seth Gloshay, Reese Stewart, Patrick J. Higgins, Setan Chavez, Santana Chavez, and Marc Cramer.

Lunch will be served at noon following services.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated and being accepted by Albert’s niece, Lauren Cramer.

Asai L. Aceves

CRYSTAL, N.M. – Funeral services for Asai Luis Aceves, 28, of Las Vegas, Nevada, will be held Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Crystal, New Mexico, with Bishop Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal.

Asai Luis Aceves, Nov. 23, 1996 – April 5, 2025

Asai was born Nov. 23, 1996, in Cedar City, Utah, into the ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People Clan), born for Naakaii Dine’é (Mexican Clan). His nálí is Naakaii Dine’é; cheii is Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan). He passed away April 5, 2025, in Las Vegas.

Asai completed high school with a GED and attended one year at the College of Southern Nevada. At times of employment, he worked in fast food restaurants.

Asai loved his family and enjoyed hiking, music, and would always help anyone in time of need.

Asai is survived by his mother, Rhonda Stewart of Crystal; father, Jose Oscar Aceves of Cedar City; sisters, Maria Magdalena Aceves and Hannah Marissa Aceves, both of Las Vegas; and grandmothers, Helen J. Stewart of Crystal, and Magdalena Rodriguez Aceves of Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Asai is preceded in death by Leonard Stewart Sr. of Rabbitbrush, Arizona, and Filadelfo Aceves of Cuernavaca.

Pallbearers will be Kiwane Harris, Brandon Stewart, Leon Stewart, Javier Aceves, Jose Oscar Aceves, and Erick Aceves.

A reception will take place at the Crystal Chapter House following services.

Grayce A. Kellogg

FORT DEFIANCE – Funeral services for Grayce Adelaide Kellogg, 85, will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m., at the Family Church Assembly of God in Fort Defiance. Burial will follow at the family plot in Crystal, New Mexico.

Grayce was born Jan. 13, 1938, in Fort Defiance. She passed away April 10, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona.

Grayce’s care has been entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup.


Arlene McGee

GANADO, Ariz. – Memorial service for Arlene McGee, 83, of Steamboat, Arizona, was held April 15 at the Ganado community cemetery in Ganado, Arizona.

Arlene was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Ganado, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). Her nálí is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water); cheii is Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge). She passed away April 8, 2025, in Phoenix.

Arlene received an associate degree from Phoenix Community College and was employed as a nurse.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Jamie McGee; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arlene is preceded in death by her son, Butch Peterson; daughter, Thursa Smith; and parents, Darlene and Henry Peterson Sr.

Tiare B. Ben

CHINLE – Funeral services for Tiare Benita Ben, 47, of Del Muerto, Arizona, were held April 16 at the Potters House in Chinle, with Artie Aragon officiating. Interment followed at the Del Muerto community cemetery.

Tiare was born April 12, 1977, in Fort Defiance, into the Mą’ii Deeshgiizhnii (Coyote Pass Clan), born for Tó’aheedlíinii (Water Flow Together Clan). She passed away April 9, 2025, in Phoenix.

Tiare graduated from Sherman Indian School in Riverside, California, and completed medical assistant/medical coding classes. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and entertaining family and guests.

Tiare is survived by her father, Woody C. Ben; brother, Tyrique Ben; and sister, Tulia Ben.

Tiare is preceded in death by her mother, Della M. Ben; and grandmother, Dorothy S. Tsosie.

Larry M. Harvey

LUKACHUKAI, Ariz. – Graveside service for Larry Mel Harvey, 68, of Lukachukai, Arizona, will be held Monday, April 21, at 10 a.m., at the St. Isabel Mission Cemetery in Lukachukai, with Tom White officiating.

Larry was born Jan. 5, 1957, in Ganado, Arizona. He passed away April 10, 2025, in Chinle.

Larry attended Lukachukai Boarding School and graduated from Many Farms High School. Afterwards, he attended heavy equipment school in Apache Junction, Arizona. He worked for the Navajo Engineering and Construction Authority, Port of Entry, forestry, roofing, security, pastor, teacher, evangelist, and praise/worship leader.

Larry was also an artist, sand painter, songwriter, musician, carpenter, and Kung Fu/Golden Glove boxer.

Larry is survived by his wife, Verna J. Harvey; sons, Larry Harvey Jr., Aaron Tsosie and Jostaiah Harvey; daughter, Sharon Tsosie; brothers, Kenneth W. Harvey, Bernard Harvey, Vincent Harvey, and Dennis Harvey; sisters, Evelyn Begay, Marilyn Yazzie, Katherine Grandson, Mary E. Begay, Electa Harvey Jones, and Jolena Harvey; grandparents, Walter and Louise Harvey; and maternal grandmother, Nanabah Sandoval; and eight grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Magdalen R. Harvey; and Wilbert William, Pax Harvey Sr., and Marcella Jean Harvey.

Pallbearers will be Larry Harvey Jr., Jostaiah, Harvey, Shundell Harvey, Shunrey Harvey, Garrick Begay, and Jared Harvey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth W. Harvey, Bernard Harvey, Vincent Harvey, Dennis Harvey, and Aaron Tsosie.

Larry Mitchell

GALLUP – Funeral services for Larry Mitchell, 63, of Littlewater, New Mexico, were held April 11 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup. Interment followed at the Rehoboth cemetery in Rehoboth, New Mexico.

Larry was born Jan. 13, 1962, in Crownpoint, into the Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He passed away March 28, 2025, in Milan, New Mexico.

Larry attended Crownpoint Boarding School and worked for the New Mexico Railroad for three years. He was also a mechanic, silversmith, fetish inlay, and made kachinas. He was a free spirit traveler, mathematician, arts and craftsman, horse trainer, wilderness tracker, and enjoyed martial arts.

Larry is survived by his sons, Harold Mitchell, Larold Mitchell and Kevin Mitchell; daughters, Shanna Mitchell Tso, Shatasha Mitchell and Dorcey Casamero; sister, Alice Mae Claw; grandparents, Billie Wero and Antonio and Mary Mitchell; and 15 grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Mitchell and Joe Mitchell Jr.; sister, Lorena Mitchell; and parents, Delores Wero Mitchell and Joe Mitchell Sr.
