Doris A. Leupp

ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral services for Doris A. Leupp, 66, of Window Rock, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Albuquerque. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Doris A. Leupp, June 24, 1958 – Dec. 23, 2024

Doris was born June 24, 1958, into the Shawnee Tribe, born for Deeshchii’nii (Start of the Red Streak People Clan). She passed away Dec. 23, 2024, in Albuquerque.

Doris received a master’s degree in education and was employed with Albuquerque Public Schools for 25 years and American School in London in 1997. She enjoyed traveling, hiking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her child, Kelly E. Analla; mother, Lenora Leupp; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Doris is preceded in death by William, Caroline and Francis Leupp.

J Michelle Haskie

GANADO, Ariz. — Funeral services for J Michelle Haskie, 41, of Chinle, will be held Friday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m., at the Ganado Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at the Chinle Veterans Cemetery.

J was born May 5, 1983, in Ganado, into the Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). Her nálí is Kinłitsonii (Yellow House People); cheii is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water). She passed away Jan. 24, 2025, in Chinle.

J attended Holbrook High School and served in the U.S. Army.

J is survived by her son, William M. Tsosie; daughter, Brittina H. Jones; father, Henry Haskie; mother/aunt, Annie R. Silversmith; brothers, Louis A. Jones and Dwayne L. Gorman; and sisters, Carlene G. Haskie, Shannon L. Haskie and Keri A. Cody.

J is preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary M. Jones; maternal grandparents, Louis and Mildred Jones; and paternal grandparents, Jack and Grace Haskie.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas T. Hadley, Branon S. Begay, Brian L. Miller, Al Cody, Ian A. Jackson, and Issac A. Ramirez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Henry “Hank” Haskie, Ben Silversmith, William M. Tsosie, Shannon L. Haskie, Louis A. Jones, and Dwayne L. Gorman.

A reception will take place at the Chinle Presbyterian Church Hall following services.

Donald Benjamin

SHIPROCK — Graveside service for Donald Benjamin, 68, of Shiprock, will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., at the Shiprock cemetery.

Donald was born July 3, 1956, in Shiprock, into the Hooghan Łání (Many Hogans Clan), born for ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People Clan). His nálí is Tsin sikaadnii (Clamp Tree); cheii is Tó’aheedlíinii (Water Flow Together). He passed away Jan. 24, 2025.

Donald enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle.

Donald is survived by his children, Darnell Benjamin, Kyle Benjamin, Drew Benjamin, Tianey Yellowhair, Renee Shorty, and Darreth Benjamin; siblings, Ramona Chavez, Jones Benjamin, Helen Dodge, and Dennis Benjamin; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Kee Benjamin; and David Joe, Ilene Woods, and Daniel “Buddy” Benjamin.

Pallbearers will be Darnell Benjamin, Ambrose John, Kyle Benjamin, Drew Benjamin, Keaton Yesslith, and Derrick Joe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jones Benjamin, Helen Dodge, Ramona Chavez, Mae Tsosie, Perry Lewis, and Darrell Joe.

Eldon W. Jones

FORT DEFIANCE — A memorial service for Eldon Wayne Jones, 56, of Fort Defiance, was held Jan. 27 in Fort Defiance.

Eldon was born March 2, 1968, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Anglo. His nálí is Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People); cheii is Anglo. He passed away Jan. 13, 2025, in Goodyear, Arizona.

Eldon attended Window Rock High School and Crownpoint Institute of Technology. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Delores Jones; son, Otto Damon; sisters, Loretta Jones and Mary Riding; and seven grandchildren.

Eldon is preceded in death by Harold and Virginia Jones, Harold Jones Jr., Irvin Jones, and Merle Jones.

Herbert Y. Anderson

CHAMBERS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Herbert Yazzie Anderson, 83, of Chambers, Arizona, were held Jan. 27 at the Indian Holiness Mission in Chambers, with John Stratton officiating. Interment followed at the family plot in Chambers.

Herbert was born Dec. 25, 1941, in Chambers, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Haltsooí (Meadow People Clan). He passed away Jan. 20, 2025, in Ganado, Arizona.

Pallbearers were Eric Anderson, Terrill Anderson, Adrian Anderson, Benjamin Benally, Bradley Benally, Taylor Benally, Cassandra Morgan, Anslem Lee, Ronnie Lee Jr., and Dennis Rogers.
