Albert James
LUKACHUKAI, Ariz. — Funeral services for Albert James, 45, of Tsaile, Arizona, will be held Saturday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at the St. Isabelle Church in Lukachukai, Arizona, with St. Isabella officiating. Burial will follow at the Lukachukai cemetery.
Albert was born March 26, 1973, in Ganado, Arizona, into the Tséikeeheé (Two Rocks-Sit Clan). He passed away June 30, 2018, in Tsaile. Albert attended Many Farms High School and was self-employed making pottery. He enjoyed working on pottery and spending time with family.
Albert is survived by his wife, Bernaldine Bennett; son, Zachariah Albert James; parents, Alfred and Mary Ann James of Tsaile; brother, Irvin James Sr. of Tsaile; and sister, Irvena Marcella James of Tsaile. A reception will take place at Alfred and Mary Ann James’ residence in Tsaile, following services. Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
David Long
LEUPP, Ariz. — Funeral services for David Long, 56, of Leupp, Arizona, will be held Friday, July 6, at 9 a.m. (MST) at the Ranch Hands Ministries Church in Leupp, with Daniel Chee officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot in Leupp.
David was born April 19, 1962, in Leupp, into the Hashk’aa hadzohí (Yucca Fruit-Strung-Out-In-A-Line Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan). He died July 1, 2018, in Leupp. David graduated from Flagstaff High School and was self-employed as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed reading Western Horseman and working on/restoring vehicles.
David is survived by his daughter, Jamilla Long; brother, Justin Long; and sisters, Ruby Long, Evelyn Nelson, Clydine Long, Nancy Long, and Lynda Long. David is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Fern Long; and Raymond Long, Jerry Long, Curtis Long, Jasper Long, and Brenda Long.
A reception will take place at Ranch Hand Ministries following services. Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Mark Everett Thompson Jr.
ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mark Everett Thompson Jr., 30, of Window Rock, will be held Friday, July 6, at 1 p.m. at the Mary, Mother of Mankind Church in St. Michaels, Arizona, with Father Jose Gutay officiating. Burial will follow in Kinlichee, Arizona.
Mark was born Jan. 31, 1988, in Fort Defiance, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Pikawetha (Shawnee). He died June 26, 2018, in Window Rock. Mark received his high school diploma in 2007 and was employed as a cook at the Quality Inn Diné Restaurant in Window Rock.
He enjoyed playing guitar with his friends, watching paranormal shows, cooking, listening to music, hiking, spending time with his cat, helping his parents around the house, spending time with his nieces and nephews, and hanging out with friends.
Mark is survived by his parents, Marjorie Nelson-Thompson and Mark Everett Thompson Sr.; brother, Max Thompson; and sisters, Crystal Thompson, Christina Thompson, and Katrina Thompson.
Mark is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Annie McCabe and Wilbur Nelson; and paternal grandparents, Aline N. Thompson and Clare M. Thompson Sr. Pallbearers will be Max Thompson, Nicholas Webster, Raleigh Miles, Shayne Yellowhair, and Taylor Davies. A reception will take place at the Kinlichee Chapter House following services. Summit Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
John Lee Yazzie
LUKACHUKAI, Ariz. — Funeral services for John Lee Yazzie, 75, of Round Rock, Arizona, were held July 3 at the St. Isabelle Mission Church in Lukachukai, Arizona, with Father PJ officiating. Interment followed at the Lukachukai community cemetery.
John was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Round Rock, into the Tábaahá (Water’s Edge Clan), born for Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan). He died June 27, 2018, in Round Rock. John was employed in farming, mining, firefighting, and worked railroads.
He enjoyed doing yard work, labor work of all types and helping others. John is survived by his wife, Darlene S. Yazzie; son, Jeff Yazzie; parents, James and Ada Yazzie; brother, Larry Yazzie; sisters, Alice M. Yazzie, Dorthy Scott, and Lorriane King; and grandmothers, Betty Leonard and Agnes Harvey.
John is preceded in death by Marie McCabe. Pallbearers were Marco Albert, Jefferson Yazzie, Myron McCabe, Damian Begay, Bobbi Scott Jr., and Kyle Clah. Honorary pallbearers were Darlene Yazzie, Alice M. Yazzie, and Dorthy Scott. Summit Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Warren G. Morgan
THOREAU, N.M. — Funeral services for Warren G. Morgan, 24, were held July 3 at the Thoreau Church of God in Thoreau, New Mexico. Interment followed at the Grants cemetery in Grants, New Mexico.
Warren was born May 29, 1994, in Gallup, into the Áshiihí (Salt People Clan), born for Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He died June 26, 2018, in Prewitt, New Mexico.
Warren loved playing softball and played in many softball tournaments. He was an outgoing person that loved his family and was always willing at heart to help friends and family.
Warren is survived by his father, Tom Morgan Jr.; brothers, Tommy Morgan, Timothy Morgan, and Timmy Morgan; and sisters, Denise Anderson and Tammy Morgan.
Pallbearers were Tommy Morgan, Timmy Morgan, Timothy Morgan, Paul Morgan, Stanley Morgan, and Pete Begaye.
