Elda J. Spencer
GALLUP – Funeral services for Elda J. Spencer, 92, of Spencer Valley, New Mexico, were held March 10 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Harry D. Largo officiating. Interment followed at the Gallup City Cemetery.
Elda was born March 11, 1932, in Spencer Valley, into the Naakaii dine’é (Mexican Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). She passed away Feb. 28, 2025, in Gallup.
Elda is survived by her sons, James Spencer, Amos Spencer, Jimson Spencer, Tony Spencer, and DeWayne Spencer; daughters, Judy Lincoln, Grace Smith and Clarinda Charley; sister, Nancy Begay; and 43 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Elda is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Spencer; and sons, Anderson Spencer and Wayne Spencer.
Pallbearers were Armondo Spencer, Dwight W. Spencer, Dominic A. DuBoise, Adrian Malone, Preston Chee, and Sylvester Spencer.

Phyllis A. Dixon
GALLUP – Funeral services for Phyllis Ann Dixon, 64, of Sundance, New Mexico, were held March 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gallup, with Branch President Lorenzo Sandman officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park.
Phyllis was born May 1, 1960, in Rehoboth, New Mexico, into the Dził Tah/Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Haltsooí (Meadow People Clan). She passed away Feb. 28, 2025, in Flagstaff.
Phyllis graduated from Wingate High School and attended college in Oklahoma. She was a traveling worker with odd jobs and was a city worker for 15 years.
Phyllis was a traveling mechanic and herbalist who enjoyed beading. She was a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners softball team and San Francisco 49ers.
Phyllis is survived by her mother, Virginia H. Dixon; father, Albert Dixon Sr.; brothers, Albert Dixon Jr., Albert Dixon III, Edbert Dixon, and Merle Dixon; sisters, Lucille Herrera, Merlinda Dixon, Victoria Dixon, and Albercita Dixon; maternal grandparents, Nellie Johnson and Frank J. Dixon Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Mary Chia Dixon and John C. Henry Sr.
Pallbearers were AJ Dixon, Scott Stephen, John Lambert, Johnny Fransico, Randy Boyd, and BJ Scott.
Honorary pallbearers were Albert Dixon Jr., Edbert Dixon, Merle Dixon, and Franklin Dixon.

Bernice R. Sandoval
GALLUP – Funeral services for Bernice Roseland Sandoval, 64, of Farmington, will be held today, March 13, at 10 a.m., at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Brother Irving Nez officiating. Burial will follow in Tohatchi, New Mexico.
Bernice was born April 23, 1960, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódík’ózhí (Salt Water Clan), born for Tsin sikaadnii (Clamp Tree Clan). She passed away March 8, 2025, in Flagstaff.
Bernice was self-employed as a silversmith. She enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing in powwows, and loved to cook for her family.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Sandoval; brothers, Bobby Sandoval, Harvey Sandoval, Richard Sandoval, Lester Sandoval, and Chester Sandoval; and sister, Rickilee Hall.
Bernice is preceded in death by Herman Sandoval, Ethel Sandoval, Lucy Esther Yazzie-Sandoval, Howard Sandoval, and Billie Mae Nez.
Pallbearers will be Isaac Hall, Chester Sandoval, Gary Sandoval, Shawn Smith, Sheridan Sandoval, and Elijah Sandoval.
A reception will take place at the Rock Springs Chapter House following services.

Andrea R. Harvey
LUKACHUKAI, Ariz. – Graveside service for Andrea Renae Harvey, 32, of Iyanbito, New Mexico, was held March 11 at the family plot in Lukachukai, Arizona, with Wilfred Moses officiating.
Andrea was born Jan. 1, 1993, in Fort Defiance, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). She passed away March 5, 2025, in Albuquerque.
Andrea attended Wingate Elementary and Wingate High School, graduating from Rocinante High School in Farmington. She was employed with Honor Health in Scottsdale, Arizona, and enjoyed beadwork and listening to music.
Andrea is survived by her son, Michael Duane Henry; daughter, Mckyla Watts; mother, Selena Buck; brothers, Joseph Harvey III and Brandon Lewis; and sisters, Ariel Harvey, Erika Harvey, Raelynn Lewis, and Erin Lewis.
Andrea is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Harvey Jr.; stepfather, Jason Lewis; maternal grandparents, Harry and Fannie Buck; and paternal grandfather, Joseph Harvey Sr.
Pallbearers were Donovan Clyde, Nathaniel Buck, David Segay, and Dominic Clyde.
Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Harvey III, Brandon Lewis and Michael Duane Henry.

Laroy Nez
HOUCK, Ariz. – Funeral services for Laroy Nez, 44, of Houck, Arizona, will be held Friday, March 14, at 10 a.m., at the Good News Mission in Houck, Arizona, with Pastor Eugene Chee officiating. Burial will follow at the Houck community cemetery.
Laroy was born March 12, 1980, in Gallup, into the Tó’áhání (Near the Water Clan), born for Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan). He passed away March 5, 2025, in Albuquerque.
Laroy was employed as an electrician. He enjoyed carpentry work and reading.
Laroy is survived by his sons, Jeremiah Nez and Cerferno Nez; daughter, Kayleen Nez; mother, Genevieve Goatson; brothers, Bruce Johnson, Derrick Nez, Edmond Goreman, Shaun Goatson, Gerald Goreman, and Robert Goreman; sister, Rachel Begay; and grandparent, Vernie Nez.
Laroy is preceded in death by his aunts, Patricia Cly, Nancy Nez, Christine Nez, and Linda James; uncles, Leon Nez and Leonard Nez; and grandfather, Hoskie Nez.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Johnson, Jeremiah Nez, Derrick Nez, Christopher Cly, Brandon James, and Garrison George.
Honorary pallbearer will be Lamar Sam.
A reception will take place at the Houck Chapter House following services.
