Aaron J. Slim
GALLUP – Funeral services for Aaron Jay Slim, 47, of Gamerco, New Mexico, were held May 21 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church in Gallup, with Omar Browning officiating. Interment followed in Gallup.

Aaron Jay Slim, March 13, 1978 – May 9, 2025
Aaron was born March 13, 1978, in Crownpoint, into the Tó’ Baazhní’ázhí (Two Who Came To the Water Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan). He passed away May 9, 2025, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Aaron graduated from Cuba High School in 1997 and studied welding at Tulsa Welding School. He also studied culinary arts at the Oklahoma State University Institute.
Aaron was employed as a chef and enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, collecting toy car models, drawing, listening to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, playing Dragonball Z, and was an Eagles fan.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Christy Slim; sons, Adam Slim and Benjamin Slim; mother, Linda Ann Long; brothers, Adrian Slim, Omar Browning, Eisenhaver Browning, Hyrom Browning, Hershel Browning, Leo Browning, Byron Slim, and Rico Browning; and sisters, Andrea Ann Fennell and Minnie Woody.
Aaron is preceded in death by his father, Amos Slim; maternal grandparents, Grace Hudson Willis and Jake Nez Begay; and paternal grandparents, Bessie and Johnny Slim.
Pallbearers were Eisenhaver Browning, Hershel Browning, Anthony Fennell, Benjamin Slim, Byron Slim, and Adam Slim.
Honorary pallbearers were Adrian Slim and Fenixx Martin Garcia.
Rollie Mortuary oversaw arrangements.
Katherine Jeff Gonzales
GALLUP – Funeral services for Katherine Jeff Gonzales, 87, of Crownpoint, will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 1 p.m., at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Ted Becenti officiating. Burial will follow at the Crownpoint community cemetery.
Katherine was born Dec. 23, 1937, in Crownpoint, into the Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover Clan), born for Tł’ááshchí’í (Red Bottom People Clan). She passed away May 19, 2025, in Gallup.
Katherine received her GED and was a rancher and master weaver. She worked at Crownpoint Elementary School, Crownpoint Post Office, and DNA as a custodian. She enjoyed weaving, crocheting, sewing, and working on puzzles.
Katherine is survived by her son, Larry Jeff; sisters, Mary Lou Morgan and Velma Begay; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Henry Jeff; son, Gary Martinez; and sister, Cecilia Nez.Rollie Mortuary oversaw arrangements.
Robert Gorman Sr.
GANADO, Ariz. – Funeral services for Robert Gorman Sr., 76, of Balakai, Arizona, will be held Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m., at the Ganado Glory Temple Ministries with Pastor Jerry Chee officiating.
Robert was born May 17, 1948, in Ganado, into the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan), born for Ta’neeszahnii. His nálí is Tábąąhá (Water’s Edge); cheii is Tábąąhá. He passed away May 13, 2025, in Burnside, Arizona.
Robert graduated from Ganado High School and retired as a military veteran in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Robert is survived by his sons, Robert Gorman Jr., Arcencio Randall, Shaun Randall, and Aurelius Gorman; daughters, Raquel Gorman, Rachelle Gorman and Cameron Gorman; parents, Mary Gorman and Billy Kee; and 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by Robertson Gorman, Juanelle Gorman, Sharon Gorman, and Joenathan Mays.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tai’Shaun Gorman, Larry Depaz, Arcencio Randall, Shaun Randall, and Robert Gorman Jr.
A reception will take place at the Ganado Glory Temple Ministries following service.

Billy G. Malone
GALLUP – Funeral services for Billy Gene Malone, 85, of Gallup, were held May 19 to celebrate his life. He passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Billy Gene Malone, Nov. 9, 1939 – May 10, 2025
Bill was born a twin on Nov. 9, 1939, in Rehoboth, New Mexico. He graduated from Durango High School in 1957 and attended Fort Lewis College for one year before joining the U.S. Army in 1958.
Bill proudly served in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as a sergeant E-5 of the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1961, he was honorably discharged from the Army and got a job as a trader’s assistant at Lupton Trading Post in Lupton, Arizona.
In 1962, Bill married his wife, Minnie Malone, whom he met in Lupton. They moved to Keams Canyon, Arizona, where Bill worked for the McGee family at Keams Canyon Trading Post. A few months later, the McGees offered Bill a job at Piñon Trading Post in Piñon, Arizona, which became home for 19 years.
In 1981, Bill accepted a job at Hubbell Trading Post as the resident trader. He loved his job dearly and dedicated 24 years to Hubbell’s. He retired for a short time until venturing out and opening his own shop, Bill Malone Trading, in downtown Gallup, in 2010.
Bill lived a remarkable, fulfilled life, centered around his family and his love for the trading business. His generosity knew no bounds and his legacy will be remembered by all.
Bill was fluent in Navajo, loved fishing, hunting, and collecting Native American art. He loved his huge family and his many friends, especially his dog Bentley. He will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
Bill is survived by his son, Oscar White (Joanne); daughters, Karen Malone, Thelma Malone, Carol Shorty (Perry), Cindy Rael (Daniel), and Billie Malone-Pete (Brandon); sister, Maureen Brennan; brothers, Rell Malone, Dell Malone and Brian Malone; and 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Malone; father, Odell Malone; mother, Thelma Lorraine Patton; twin sister, Billie Jean Harry; and brother, Robert Malone.
