Ruth Ann Lewis

TINIAN, N.M. — Funeral services for Ruth Ann Lewis, 83, of Rincon Marquis, New Mexico, will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Tinian Baptist Church in Tinian, New Mexico, with Pastor Steven Archibald officiating. Burial will follow in Rincon Marquis.

Ruth was born March 15, 1935, in Rincon Marquis, into the Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan), born for Dziltl’ahnii (Mountain Cove Clan). She passed away Nov. 9, 2018, in Rincon Marquis.

Ruth attended school in Riverside, California, and was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed herding sheep, weaving, riding horses, and attending church.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Herbert R. Lewis; son, Michael Lewis; daughters, Patsy Gibson, Marilynn Sandoval, Jacqueline Toledo, and Sherri Shorty; sisters, Annie S. Yazzie, Esther A. Lewis, and Lita Arviso; and 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Werito and Grace M. Sandoval; sisters, Mary W. Sandoval and Julia Benally; and brothers, Richard Sandoval, Jerry Sandoval, Leonard Sandoval, and Bill Sandoval.

Pallbearers will be Lance S. Sandoval, Jarrett J. Gibson, Trent M. Lewis, Elijah M. Shorty, Pierrce L. Lewis, and Alvin Toledo Jr.

A reception will take place at the Rincon Marquis Holiness Mission Fellowship Hall following services.

Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Johnny R. Dick Kercheva

GALLUP — Funeral services for Johnny R. Dick Kercheva, 76, will be held Friday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Lighthouse Church. Burial will follow at the Gallup City Cemetery.

Johnny was born Oct. 7, 1942, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tódík’ózhí (Salt Water Clan). His nali is Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People); chei is Tábaahá (Water’s Edge). He passed away Nov. 10, 2018.

Johnny worked construction as a carpenter and was a silversmith. He participated in rodeo events, especially bareback, bull riding, and saddle bronc riding.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Gladys Kercheva; sons, Robert Goldtooth, Jonathan Kercheva, and Donovan Kercheva; daughters, Valentina Martin and Dianabelle Kercheva; sisters, Irene Dick, Lavee James, and Carol Dick; and brother, Eddie Rodriguez.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Dick; and brother, Roy Dick.

Pallbearers will be Donovan Kercheva, Juwan Kercheva, Malcolm Rodriguez, Sohnyei Cohoe, Zachery Lee, and Eli Valencia.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
