Amelia Yazzie

DENNEHOTSO, Ariz. — Funeral services for Amelia Yazzie, 69, of Tsaile, Arizona, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m., at the LDS Church in Dennehotso, Arizona. Burial will follow at the Blanding City Cemetery in Blanding, Utah.

Amelia Yazzie, Oct. 24, 1954 – Oct. 16, 2024

Amelia was born Oct. 24, 1954, in Tsaile, into the Tótsohnii (Big Water Clan), born for Tó’áhaní (Near the Water Clan). She passed away Oct. 16, 2024, in Blanding.

Amelia enjoyed watching sports and spending time with her grandchildren.

Amelia is survived by her husband, Herman C. Yazzie; sons, Garrett Yazzie and Jerrett Yazzie; daughter, Heather Yazzie; and four sisters, one brother, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Amelia is preceded in death by her mother, Lucy K. Lee; father, Cody Johnson; and two sisters.

A reception will take place in Dennehotso following services.

Virgie Begaye

TOHATCHI, N.M. — Funeral services for Virgie “Virginia” Begaye, 68, of Naschitti, New Mexico, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m., at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Tohatchi, New Mexico, with Father Dale Jamison officiating. Burial will follow at the Naschitti community cemetery.

Virgie was born April 8, 1956, in Two Grey Hills, New Mexico, into the ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People Clan), born for Kinłichíi’nii (Red House People Clan). Her nálí is Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House); cheii is Tsenabahiłnii (Sleep Rock People). She passed away Oct. 19, 2024, in Farmington.

Virgie attended Naschitti Elementary School and Chuska Boarding School, graduating from Many Farms High School. She was a home care provider at Quality Home Care for 12 years.

Virgie enjoyed picking piñons, sewing, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, and visiting family far and near.

Virgie is survived by her daughters, Regina Yazzie, Renita Begaye, Reginia Begaye, and Retina Begaye; brothers, Thomas Benally and Harry Bryant; sisters, Julia Begay, Alta Price and Juanita Yazzie; and 12 grandchildren.

Virgie is preceded in death by her son, Virgil Hosteen Begaye; sisters, Alice Roanhorse and Bernice Bryant; granddaughter, Shanoah Yazzie; parents, Thomas Hosteen Begay and Anita Bryant-Begay; and grandparents, Sally and John Bryant.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Yazzie, Kyion Yazzie, Jones Yazzie Jr., and Ryan Price.

Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Benally, Harry Bryant, Milton Tsosie, Jonathan Yazzie, Jerold Yazzie, and Dean Yazzie.

A reception will take place at the Naschitti Chapter House following services.

Colin D. Tsosie

DECATUR, Ala. — Funeral services for Colin Dee Tsosie, 68, of Hartselle, Alabama, will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Beltline Church of Christ in Decatur, Alabama, with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur.

Colin was born July 1, 1956, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Mą’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan). His cheii is Kinłichíi’nii (Red House People). He passed away Oct. 19, 2024, at Cullman Regional in Cullman, Alabama.

Colin graduated from Chinle High School in 1974 and attended Box Elder School in Ogden, Utah. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978 and worked as a project manager, security systems technician, and site surveyor at Global.

Colin loved golfing with his friends and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

Colin is survived by his wife, Starla Tsosie; sons, Richard Tsosie of Phoenix, Colin Dee Tsosie II of Phoenix, and Travis Tsosie of Washington State; daughter, Andrea Tsosie of Washington State; brother, Kevin Tsosie of Needles, California; and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Colin is preceded in death by his daughter, Cheyenne Amber Tsosie; and parents, Collins and Laura Tsosie.

A Celebration of Life is set for Saturday, Nov. 16, in Needles.

Parkway Funeral Home in Trinity, Alabama, oversaw arrangements.
