ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. – Funeral services for Craig Martin Valdo, 53, of Fort Defiance, were held Oct. 29 at the LDS Church in St. Michaels, Arizona. Interment followed in Fort Defiance.

Craig Martin Valdo, July 18, 1972 – Oct. 25, 2025

Craig was born July 18, 1972, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Acoma. His nálí is Hopi; cheii is Honágháahnii (One-walks-around). He passed away Oct. 25, 2025, in Fort Defiance.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents, Linda Slinkey and Joe Valdo Jr.

Pallbearers were Gregg Valdo, Bryant Valdo, Logan Valdo, Joe Valdo III, Marshall Joe, Irv Wauneka, Robert Garcia, Randy Wauneka, Leo James and Kevin Zarazoga.

Honorary pallbearers were Rayne Valdo, Harvey Tso, Eldon Slinkey, Dwight Slinkey, Chad Slinkey, Emery Barney, Ronald Slinkey, Shane Slinkey, Carlton Hernasy Jr., Vincent Valdo, Rueben Valdo and Ryan Valdo.

David Jose

RAMAH, N.M. – Funeral services for David Jose, 79, of Ramah, New Mexico, will be held Monday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ramah, with Bishop Austin Clawson officiating. Burial will follow in Ramah.

David Jose, May 1, 1946 – Oct. 24, 2025

David was born May 1, 1946, in Ramah, into the Haltsooí (Meadow People Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). His nálí is Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House); cheii is Chíshí (Apache Chiricahua). He passed away Oct. 24, 2025, in Albuquerque.

David graduated from Ramah High School in 1965 and served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968, earning a Purple Heart. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University.

David worked with the Ramah Navajo School Board, Ramah Navajo Chapter and the Navajo Nation Office of Veterans Affairs.

David is survived by his son, Dana Jose; daughters, Etheline Jose, Davina Jose, Juana Jose, Loucia Jose and Loucretia Jose-Scott; and 10 grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Annie L. Pino and Juan Jose; son, Dav Lucas Jose; and brother, Jose.

Pallbearers will be David’s children.

A reception will be announced at the service.

Frank Talley

FARMINGTON – Funeral services for Frank Talley, 67, of Teen Nos Pos, New Mexico, will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m., at The Potter’s House in Farmington. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.

Frank was born July 22, 1958, in Nageezi, New Mexico, into the Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover Clan), born for Naakaii dine’é (Mexican Clan) His nálí is ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People); cheii is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water). He passed away Oct. 27, 2025, in Farmington.

Frank was a silversmith who had his faith and enjoyed website design and watching the Rams play football.

Frank is survived by his wife, Lisa Talley; children, Joshua Talley, Correen Talley and Mercedes Talley; siblings, Joan Talley, Johnnie Ray Talley, Glen Talley, Leonard Talley and Mishelle Talley; and one grandchild.

Dewey A. Bohling

ALBUQUERQUE – A Celebration of Life for Coach Dewey Arthur Bohling, 87, will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m., at the Rio Vista Church (8701 Golf Course Rd. NW) in Albuquerque.

Dewey Arthur Bohling, Aug. 22, 1938 – Oct. 19, 2025

Coach Dewey was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Hebron, Nebraska. He passed away Oct. 19, 2025, in Albuquerque.

Coach Dewey resided in Albuquerque, with his beloved wife, Sandra (Antonio) Bohling, of 50 years.

Coach Dewey’s life exemplified his love for sports. In 1954, he contributed to Albuquerque’s Highland High School’s state football championship and earned the title of an “All-American” running back.

On discus, in 1955, Coach Dewey threw the second-longest throw by a high school student at that time. At Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, he lettered three years in football and two years in track and field, 1956-1958.

Between 1960-1961, Coach Dewey’s AFL football career as a halfback led to wins with the NFL team, New York Titans (now known as the New York Jets) and the Buffalo Bills.

In 2012, Coach Dewey was inducted into the New Mexico Track and Cross-Country Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2015, he was also inducted into the Hardin-Simmons Sports Hall of Fame for Football and Men’s Track and Field.

Coach Dewey’s 43-year high school coaching career gave him immense joy when his student-athletes achieved their personal goals and showed their continued acts of persistence, respect and service to others.

Coach Dewey is survived by his children, Dewey Bohling Jr., Donally Bohling and Dana Sleeger (Steve); and three grandchildren and many relatives.

Coach Dewey is also survived by his stepchildren, Darrell Pino (Anita), Tina Keeto (Marshall) and Leo Pino; eight step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Coach Dewey is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Lester Pino; and step-grandson, David Mingo.

Sandy L. Billie

TOHLAKAI, N.M. – Funeral services for Sandy Lynn Billie, 77, of Gallup, will be held today, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m., at the Bethlehem Christian Reformed Church in Tohlakai, New Mexico, with Evangelist Leon Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Gallup Veterans Cemetery.

Sandy was born Dec. 22, 1947, in Gallup, into the Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan), born for Dziłtł’ahnii (Mountain Cove Clan). Her nálí is Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water); cheii is Haltsooí (Meadow People). She passed away Oct. 23, 2025, in Gallup.

Sandy graduated from Phoenix Indian High School and worked in accounts receivable with the Navajo tribe. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Ernie Billie; son, Michael Billie; daughters, Annette Foltz and Crystal Belone; brother, Leon Long; sister, Sylvia Peshlakai; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Sandy is preceded in death by her mother, Sarah B. Long; father, Leo Long; sister, Stella Long; and brother, Leonard Long.

Pallbearers will be Lamar Elliott, Christopher Foltz, Frederick Foltz IV, Alexander Belone, William Belone and Maurkys Billie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Billie, Michael Billie, John Lee Peshlakai, Leon Long, Leonard Belone Jr. and Hunter Billie.

A reception will take place at the Gallup Community Service Center following services.

Myron R. Johnson

STANDING ROCK, N.M. – Funeral services for Myron Ron Johnson, 57, of Standing Rock, New Mexico, will be held today, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., at the Bible Baptist Shepherd Church in Standing Rock, with Pastor Neil Foerster officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot in Standing Rock.

Myron was born Jan. 20, 1968, in Gallup, into the Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan), born for Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He passed away Oct. 21, 2025, in Albuquerque.

Myron is survived by his sons, Robby Johnson, Dwayne Johnson Sr. and Myron Johnson Jr.; daughter, Tiffany Johnson; mother, Christine Johnson; brother, Myron Johnson Jr.; sister, Misha Johnson; and 11 grandchildren.

Myron is preceded in death by his father, Montoya Johnson Sr.; brothers, Theron Johnson and Byron “Sparky” Johnson; maternal grandmother, Bernice Etcitty; and paternal grandparents, Jeanette and Martinez Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Myron Johnson Jr., Joshua Renfro, Dwayne Johnson Sr., Draven Dickson-Johnson, Jasper Johnson and Justin Peterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Montoya Johnson Jr., Edgar Etcitty, Lance Begay, Robert Johnson, Ethaniel Johnson and Robby Johnson.

A reception will take place at the Standing Rock Chapter House following services.
