ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. — A rosary service for Sueanna Upshaw, 36, of St. Michaels, Arizona, will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, at 9 a.m. at the St. Michaels Catholic Church.

Sueanna was born Jan. 4, 1981, in Phoenix, into the Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan), born for Tl’óg’ (Weaver-Zia Clan). She died Sept. 16, 2017, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Sueanna graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Arizona State University and was a full-time student at Manchester University in her third year of studies for a doctor of pharmacy.

Sueanna loved spending time with her spouse, friends, family and classmates. She was an avid Arizona Cardinals fan and enjoyed traveling and discovering new local hangouts. She made friends everywhere she traveled.

Sueanna is survived by her spouse, Releen Upshaw; father, Calvin Upshaw; brothers, Taylor Upshaw and Jesse Ballesteros; paternal grandmother, Marian Upshaw; and maternal grandparents, Jesus Ernesto and Maria Socorro Ballesteros.

Sueanna is preceded in death by her mother, Maria “Jesse” Ballesteros; and paternal grandfather, John Upshaw.

A reception will take place at the St. Michaels Chapter House following service at 11 a.m.

Ruth Williams Draper

DEL MUERTO, Ariz. — A memorial service for Ruth Williams Draper, 93, of Chinle, is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Del Muerto, Arizona, with Pastor Danny Halwood Sr. officiating.

Ruth was born Dec. 25, 1923, at her home near Toyei, Arizona, into the Kiyaa’‡anii (Towering House Clan), born for Tód’ch’’i’nii (Bitter Water Clan). She died Sept. 8, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Ruth attended Sage Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 in Ganado, Arizona, and was employed as a school nurse with Chinle School District. She enjoyed sewing, making jewelry, reading her bible, mission trips, traveling and meeting people.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jimmy Jr.; daughter, Sandy Reclosado; sisters, Daisy, Rena Nelson and Priscilla Kee; and five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Sr.; sons, Roland and Nathaniel; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Williams; brothers, Eli, Kee, Guy and Jack Williams; and adopted brother, Leo Williams.
A reception will take place at the Del Muerto Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall following service.

CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Ervin Peshlakai Sr., 81, of Crownpoint, were held Sept. 16 at St. Paul’s Catholic Parish in Crownpoint, with Pastor Darryl McCullough officiating. Interment followed at the Crownpoint community cemetery.

Ervin was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Crownpoint. He passed away Sept. 12, 2017, in Crownpoint.

Ervin lived in Crownpoint all of his life and attended public school in Crownpoint and Rehoboth Mission School.

He was a loving brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He dedicated 36 years working as a realty specialist in eastern Navajo BIA Agency in the Crownpoint and Window Rock offices. He was awarded an Achievement Award for his services as a reality specialist.

Ervin enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Nov. 16, 1953, and served on the U.S.S. Hopewell Destroyer during the Korean Conflict, operating with Korean and nationalist Chinese ships. He was given an honorable discharge.

Ervin is survived by his companion, Lucille Dyer; daughters, Teresa Morgan of Crownpoint, Barbara A. Naise of Rock Springs, New Mexico, and Kim Peshlakai of Farmington; sons, Eugene Peshlakai of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Gabriel Peshlakai of Mesa, Arizona, Samuel Peshlakai of Denver, and Ervin Peshlakai Jr. of Crownpoint; brother, Emerson Peshlakai of Mesa; sister, Bea Woodward of Continental Divide, New Mexico; and 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Ervin is preceded in death by his parents, Sue (Sandoval) Peshlakai and Sam Peshlakai; brothers, Hugh Peshlakai, Herman Peshlakai, Steven Peshlakai and Harold Cayaditto.

Pallbearers were Eugene Peshlakai, Gabriel Peshlakai, Samuel Peshlakai, Ervin Peshlakai Jr., Shannon Peshlakai and Byron Charlee.

Compassion Mortuary of Grants was in charge of arrangements.

Delphina Ann Tenorio

LAKESIDE, Ariz. — Funeral services for Delphina “Peanuts” Ann Tenorio will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakeside, Arizona.

Delphina was born Jan. 5, 1964, in Ganado, Arizona, to June and Murray Leslie Sr. She went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 5, 2017, in Albuquerque.

Dephina is survived by her children, Tiara Dahkoshay, Delray Sheen, Devin Sheen and Chasity Sheen; mother, June Leslie; brothers, Murray Leslie Jr. and Roger Leslie; and numerous grandchildren.

Delphina is preceded in death by her sister, Ethelene Leslie; grandson, Miles Dewey; nephew, Dominic Leslie; father, Murray Leslie Sr.; and brother, Kenneth “Tiger” Leslie.

A luncheon will take place following services.

Bishop Herbert H. Hutchinson

GALLUP — A celebration memorial service for Bishop Herbert H. Hutchinson will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Lighthouse International Ministries (2045 Westview Drive) in Gallup.

Bishop Herb’s ministry has made an impact across the world. He was loved and respected by many.

Mae Margaret Dick

STEAMBOAT, Ariz. — Funeral services for Mae Margaret Dick, 87, of Steamboat, Arizona, were held Sept. 12 at the Bethel Navajo Baptist Church in Steamboat, with Pastor Harold Noble officiating. Interment followed in Ganado, Arizona.

Mae was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Steamboat, into the Tód’ch’’i’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for T‡baah‡ (Water’s Edge Clan). She died Sept. 6, 2017, in Payson, Arizona.

Mae attended a five-year program at Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma. She enjoyed herding sheep, cooking, doing puzzles, playing cards, bingo and listening to KTNN.

Mae is survived by her son, Dickie Bahe; daughter, Laura A. Sacatero; sisters, Sally Navaho and Elsie Joe; and 24 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Andy Dick, Bruce Sacatero, Ramondo Sacatero, Fernando Begay, Jeremy Mathis and Truman Begay.

Honorary pallbearers were Dickie Bahe and Norman Shorty.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Y. Redhouse

CHINLE — Funeral services for Bobby Y. Redhouse, 89, of Many Farms, Arizona, were held Sept. 12 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Chinle. Interment followed in Chinle.

Bobby was born May 16, 1928, in Many Farms, into the Tl’‡‡shch’’’ (Red Bottom People Clan), born for Kinlich’i’nii (Red House People Clan). He died Sept. 6, 2017, in Fort Defiance.

Bobby received some education in Rough Rock and retired from NFPI in Navajo, New Mexico, as a millwright. He also worked for Union Pacific Railroad and a uranium mine in Church Rock, New Mexico.

Bobby loved going to song and dances, landscaping, traveling to Tucson, and being with his grandchildren.

Bobby is survived by his sons, Terry Redhouse Sr. and Lorenzo Bahe; daughter, Loberta Redhouse; brothers, Wilfred Redhouse and Donald Redhouse; sister, June Yazzie; and 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bobby is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Redhouse; and sons, Oscar Redhouse, Stephen Redhouse, Alonzo Bahe and Harry Nez.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
