Bailey Williams’ second-half surge sends Holbrook to 3A state first round

HOLBROOK, Ariz. – A dominant second half pushed Holbrook past ALA-West Foothills 68–39 on Thursday night, sending the Lady Roadrunners into the 2026 Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A Girls State Championship bracket.
Holbrook’s pressure defense set the tone, forcing turnovers that repeatedly turned into transition scoring opportunities before the Guardians could establish their half-court defense.
Junior forward Bailey Williams led the surge, scoring 26 points and catching fire from beyond the arc. Williams drained five 3-pointers after halftime and finished with six total in the game. Sophomore guard Channing Harrington added 12 points, senior guard Maya Francisco scored 11 and junior forward Angelica Uranga contributed 10 for Holbrook.

ALA-West Foothills was led by junior Addyson McFarland with 12 points and freshman Lyla Hernandez with 11.
The first quarter stayed close early. West Foothills jumped out to a 4–0 lead before Francisco scored with 6:50 remaining to put Holbrook on the board. The teams traded baskets and Harrington tied the game 10–10 midway through the quarter.
After another tie at 12–12, the Roadrunners closed the period with five unanswered points to take a 17–12 lead. Williams scored five in the opening quarter while Francisco added four.
The second quarter became the lowest-scoring period for both teams. Holbrook outscored the Guardians 9–6 to take a 26–18 halftime advantage. Williams added four points, Harrington knocked down a 3-pointer and Francisco added a basket, while McFarland led West Foothills with four.
In the third, Holbrook outscored West Foothills 21–11. Williams connected on multiple 3-pointers during the frame while Harrington and Uranga combined for 10 points to extend the lead to 18 with a score of 47-29.
Holbrook added another 21 points in the fourth quarter while holding the Guardians to 11. Williams scored nine in the period as the Roadrunners steadily pulled away to the 68–39 victory.
Holbrook (15–13) advances to face Show Low (14–13) in the first round of the AIA 3A State Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Show Low High School. West Foothills finishes its season 12–10 and 10–1 in the 3A East Region.
3A North teams earn state berths
Three of six 3A North teams advanced to the first round AIA 3A Girls State Championship bracket during pool play earlier in the week, while two others fell back into the 3A bracket.

Chinle (17–14) defeated River Valley (13–10) 85–37 to earn the No. 7 seed and will host No. 10 Gilbert Christian (20–6) on Feb. 18 at the Wildcat Den.
Monument Valley claimed the No. 8 seed after defeating Benjamin Franklin (15–13) 92–38 and will host Payson (20–7) at the Nash Center on Feb. 18.
Ganado (12–15) secured the No. 13 seed in double overtime with a 56–51 win over Seton Catholic Prep (17–10). With the game tied 47–47, senior Jasah McIntosh and sophomore Jordan Claw scored the final nine points. The Lady Hornets will travel to No. 4 seed Alchesay (20–10) on Feb. 18.
Window Rock and Page fell in the second round of the AIA Copper Bracket and are seeded atop the 3A State Championship Bracket.
Other results
Winslow (9–18) defeated Kingman (14–6) 60–25 and advances into the first round AIA 3A Girls State Championship as the No. 12 seed to face Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (18–5) on Feb. 18.
Valley Sanders (19–10) defeated Scottsdale Christian 61–56 and will host Horizon Honors (17–11) in the first round of the AIA 2A Girls State Championship.
Hopi (9–14) fell to Arizona Lutheran Academy 43–35, ending its season.
Pinon (15–10) lost to Horizon Honors 58–37 and was eliminated.
Rock Point (12–11) defeated Red Mesa (10–17) 51–41 and will travel to Duncan (21–8) on Feb. 16 in the first round of the AIA 1A Girls State Championship.
