For the Shiprock Northwest Lady Falcons, the Striking Eagle Basketball Invitational was a taste of March Madness.

Winslow High School’s Trelonnie Sanders was the man of the hour as he helped lead the Bulldogs to a thrilling 55-54 victory over the Tuba City Warriors for the boy’s title in the 3A North Tournament of Champions at the Window Rock Fighting Scouts Event Center on Monday night.

Page Lady Sand Devil senior guard Ember Sloan stepped up big time in the fourth quarter of the tournament finale in the 3A North Tournament of Champions on Monday night.

A power outage that lasted for over one week on Dec. 8 has caused havoc for the Wingate girls’ basketball team.

It was a game that befitted a tournament championship.
