Tuesday night was all about testing the water when it came to the Shiprock Northwest vs. Red Valley/Cove boy’s basketball game.

Northern Arizona Lumberjacks exploded for 54 points in the second half to turn a close game into a 90-57 rout over the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a game played at the Window Rock High School Events Center in Fort Defiance.

Since it opened, the Window Rock High School Events Center in Fort Defiance has housed only high school athletic games.

Led by senior post Ni’Asia McIntosh, the Gallup girls’ basketball team posted an 83-77 win over Shiprock on Saturday.

What began as a mental collapse turned into teaching points for the Native American Community Academy boys’ basketball team.
