The Tuba City girls basketball team has entered a new era under first-year coach Michael Balcerek.

The Many Farms girls basketball team had a few breaks go its way on Friday night against the Rock Point Lady Cougars.

In a regular season matchup Saturday night, the Piñon Eagles secured a 41-24 victory over Red Mesa in a game defined by strong defensive play and converting shots into points.

Page, the defending 3A girls state champ, held Show Low to 10 second-half points that led to a 57-35 defeat over the Lady Cougars on Thursday night at Show Low High School. Tayla Franklin, the sharpshooting junior, led the Lady Sand Devils with a career-high 31 points and seven 3-pointers.

Diné hoop players Kapiolani Anitielu and Aniya Johnson couldn’t have asked for a better start in their collegiate debut.
