The Newcomb girls basketball team made it a point to let everyone handle the ball. The five players on the court created some space as their passing and cutting led to some easy baskets on Saturday night as the Lady Skyhawks (3-0) defeated tournament host Shiprock in the championship game of the 2025 Jerry Richardson Memorial Tournament.

In a sneak peek of what’s to come postseason, the Gallup Lady Bengals received a stiff test from the Albuquerque Academy Lady Chargers on Monday night. Gallup is the defending 4A state champs, but Academy showed why they have a legitimate shot of holding that state championship trophy come March.
