Navajo Times to honor fall sports All-Stars
WINDOW ROCK
It is particularly hard every year to chose our All-Stars and this year was no different with the feedback we received from the area coaches.
In addition to the nominations, this region produced a number of state champions so to whittle down the list took a grind.
Nonetheless, the Navajo Times sports staff believe that we came up with a fair list. And to help celebrate their achievements, the Navajo Times will honor the following athletes in an awards ceremony schedule for Dec. 22 at the Phil Thomas Performing Arts Center in Shiprock. The doors will open at 9 a.m.
All listed athletes are encouraged to bring their school uniform tops for a photo session, which will promptly start at 10 a.m. This event is free and open to the public. Photos and an article will be published in the Dec. 24 edition of the Times.

Football
In football, there were 11 area teams that made the state playoff, including nine in New Mexico.
Those state-bound teams headline our All-Star list, which includes Miyamura quarterback Josiah Shank.
Shank and Window Rock running back Delano Walker are the recipients of our co-player of the year award.
Shank amassed some solid numbers this year while leading the Patriots to the New Mexico Class 5A state quarterfinals.
In 12 games, Shank finished the season with 27 touchdowns, including 15 rushing scores for 1,057 yards. In the air, Shank completed more than half his passes and collected another 1,295 yards.
Walker helped the Scouts to a 7-3 record by gaining 2,372 in all-purpose yards. The Window Rock senior finished the year with 25 touchdowns, including 14 rushing scores.
With a 9-2 overall record, Miyamura coach Wes Shank was named our co-coach of the year. He shared that honor with Winslow coach B.J. Little as the Bulldogs finished the year at 8-4, including a 5-0 record in sectional play.
