The Crownpoint Eagles completed a two-minute drill in the final moments Thursday night to hand previously unbeaten Navajo Prep a 14-8 loss. The victory gives Crownpoint (2-2) its second straight win after opening the season with back-to-back shutout losses to Pojoaque Valley and Montezuma-Cortez by a combined score of 102-0.

The Tohatchi Cougars picked up their first win of the season Friday night, defeating the Newcomb Skyhawks 26-6 at home despite multiple rain delays and a threatening lightning cloud that lingered overhead.

The Bloomfield Bobcats wasted no time shaking off their first regular season loss since 2022.

Newcomb freshman Josiah Nunez spent much of the game lined up at defensive end, holding his own in the trenches.

By the time the stadium lights flicked on in Piñon, the game had concluded while the air carried the smell of roast mutton and frybread turning a football game night into something more like a fall Navajo Fair than a small-town game.
