World Champion Kimzey, finals champion Jesus will highlight CBR
WINDOW ROCK
Six-time world champion Sage Kimzey and world finals champion Cody Jesus highlight this year’s Championship Bull Riding Sept. 3 at Dean C. Jackson Memorial Arena in Window Rock at 8 p.m.
The CBR is held in conjunction with the 71st Annual Navajo Nation Fair, September 3-10.
Tuff Hedeman, four-time World Champion and Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer bull rider, said he is excited about this year’s event in Window Rock.
“We’re very honored to bring the CBR to the Navajo Nation in Window Rock,” Hedeman said in a telephone interview. “I love to be in Window Rock. I’ve competed in Window Rock and the Four Corners area in junior rodeos, high school rodeos, college rodeos and professional rodeos. I have friends on the Navajo Nation. There is no better place to compete in bull riding than the Navajo Nation. The fans are great.”
A kickoff reception, held in the hospitality tent, will begin the event at 5 p.m., with refreshments, presentations and an autograph session.
Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye released a statement through his office’s communications director Mihio Manus.
“It’s been a privilege for the Navajo Nation to host the CBR, a professional bull riding organization that puts on events nationwide,” Begaye said. “Hosting the event provides a great opportunity for local and regional cowboys to earn points toward their national CBR standings. OPVP appreciates CBR’s top leadership for bringing the event to the Navajo Nation Fair. When the CBR hosts events in Texas or Nevada, thousands of Navajos are in attendance. It’s because they know the CBR is world class competition.”
Begaye said the Navajo Nation fans want to see the best bull riders in the world and that is what CBR presents.
