Diné College Women’s Cross Country team brings home a national cross country title

The Diné College women’s cross-country team brought home the team title at the 2014 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Cross Country National Championships, which was held in Syracuse, NY on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014.
The Lady Warriors, who finished fourth last season, packed six runners in the top 12 to dominate the 30-team field.
Diné College accumulated 37 points while second place finisher Cleary University of Howell, Mich., finished with 88 points.
On the men’s side, Diné College made the podium as well finishing second to SUNY ESF. The New York-based university scored 39 points, 19 markers ahead of Diné College.
“Their performance was awesome,” Diné College coach Shaun Martin said. “They had very specific individualize goals and they hit them.”
Martin said the courses for both the men and women were much to their liking as it featured a lot of hills and grasses.
“It played to our benefit,” he said. “It was a strength runners course and knowing that they got out well.”
All together Diné College had eight runners earnedAll-American honors with the women’s team hauling in six awards.
