The 2024 track season remains a blur for Grants distance runner Laila Martinez. After capturing three state medals her freshman season, which included gold in the 800-meter race, Martinez did not make state last year as a sophomore.

The Farmington track team walked away with eight medals during last week’s New Mexico Class 5A state track meet, which included a pair of gold and silver medals.

Holbrook sprinter Williams Kinds was looking for some validation. He received that by making the finals of the 100-meter race at the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division IV Championships on Saturday.

The Arizona Interscholastic Association concluded its divisional track championships on Saturday with Chinle’s Janessa Segay, Page’s Symond Martin and Greyhills Academy’s Benjamin Miera capturing gold in their respective long-distance races.
