The Alamo Navajo boys’ cross-country team looked as good as advertised.

In the last two years, the Navajo Pine boys’ cross-country team has found its equal.

The Tohatchi Invitational on Friday will open the 2017 prep cross-country season but some of the area schools got an early start by taking part in the McGaffey scrimmage last Saturday.

“A lot of hard work from each individual for the betterment of the team is a key to our success,” said Page head cross-country coach MacArthur Lane, who begins his sixth year as the Sand Devils’ skipper.

Despite not being healthy and in racing shape 100 percent, Santiago Hardy of Chinle defended his 10K championship at the 38th annual Narbona Pass Classic last Sunday.
