DILKON, Ariz.

For most, conferences are a way to get the resources they need, but for Juanita Williams they’re a positive outlet that helps her continue to stay clean.

Williams was one of many at the “Building Healthier Children” conference hosted at the Dilkon Youth Services building on April 16.

Williams is from White Cone, Ariz. and she attended the conference with her kids, David and Celeste Wauneka.

She said she goes to different conferences to help her stay away from crystal meth.

“It’s hard to stay clean,” she admitted, but being able to attend conferences gives her something better to do then resort back to drugs.

“I’m just trying to go to positive things so I can stay on track and learn more,” Williams said, adding that once you get caught up in an addictive lifestyle, you see the drug everywhere.

That’s why she thinks small conferences like the one in Dilkon help the community realize that there is help out there and lets people know that meth is a big problem.
