The most exciting speech at a high school graduation usually comes from alumni or an elected official but students from Shiprock High School will face a judge.

Judge Judy Sheindlin, more commonly known as simply “Judge Judy,” will be addressing the class of 2015 in one of their final high school moments with her commencement speech.

“I am thrilled to be coming to Shiprock HS and look forward to being part of the cheering crowd for the class of 2015,” Sheindlin said in a statement.

Sheindlin is famous for her courtroom television show “Judge Judy,” and held an essay writing contest for high school students across the nation to win a chance for her to give the commencement speech at their graduation.

Alexus Uentillie, a senior, won the “Ultimate High School Graduation” contest with an essay about her school and how great the Shiprock area is. She said she talked about academics and also about how deserving her graduating class is.
