GALLUP
Team members from Navajo Fire Rock Casino delivered donated food to the Manuelito Navajo Children’s Home on March 20 as a casino food drive continued into this week.
The delivery followed donations collected during Fire Rock’s Pot of Gold Food Drive. Bags of food gathered from guests were taken to the Gallup children’s home Friday by casino team members.
The Manuelito Navajo Children’s Home serves children in need of physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and educational care. According to a press release, the home provides room, food, clothing, education, family and spiritual training for the children in its care.
The food drive is still underway. Guests can continue taking part at the casino. Players Club members who bring four nonperishable food items will receive $10 in free play during the event, which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Casino team members will then transport the additional items to the children’s home, where the donations are expected to help provide more meals for the children.
The food drive and delivery mark a community donation effort built around guest contributions and staff involvement, with the children’s home receiving the collected items as the campaign continues.
