Seven-year-old song and dance prodigy captures hearts across Diné Bikéyah

TÓNANEESDIZÍ
At just seven years old, Kacee Yazzie has become a familiar name at song and dance events across the Navajo Nation. With turquoise gleaming and his steps locked to the drum, the second grader from Tó Łigaaí, New Mexico, looks at ease each time he enters the arena.
His mother, Samuelita Yazzie, said none of this was mapped out.
“This is our first year with him dancing,” she said. “One day we just went to a song and dance, and we didn’t realize he would be into it. We grew up going to song and dances when I was little, but he just picked it up himself.”
From there, a passion took hold.
