COVID deaths reach 1,000 on Navajo Nation

“Unfortunately, we reached 1,000 deaths today. We offer our thoughts and prayers to all of the families who have lost loved ones,” stated Navajo President Jonathan Nez. “We can all do our part to honor their memory and to prevent more deaths by keeping our guard up and taking all precautions to reduce the number of cases.”

Nation on track with vaccine distribution

As Navajo Nation health authorities reported 16 more deaths from COVID-19 Friday, President Jonathan Nez said the nation has given more than three fourths of its vaccine to more than 20,000 people, so far.

Distribution is moving more quickly than in most states, but there is still concern about the new variant, B 1.1.7, recently found in Bernalillo County in New Mexico.
