The Budget and Finance Committee Tuesday approved legislation allocating $1.4 million from the Sihasin Fund toward Council Delegate Vince James’ Ganado Senior Citizens and Veterans Center Expenditure Plan.

Legislation will give supplemental funding of $1.4 million from the Unreserved, Undesignated Fund Balance to be appropriated for chapters with less than $25,000 in emergency funds.

In light of the looming revenue shortfall caused by the closure of the Navajo Generating Station, the Navajo Nation Office of Management and Budget wants the Navajo Nation Council to start working on the Fiscal 2021 budget sooner rather than later.
