Everyone knew that when the question of legalization of liquor came before the Navajo Nation Council it would be hotly debated but no one expected the debate to be as lengthy as it was.

The question of legalizing liquor on the Navajo Reservation had come up again and many people felt there was a good chance that the Navajo Tribal Council, which was scheduled to meet the following week, would finally bite the bullet and agree to allow liquor sales on the reservation.

For the first time in its history, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority is restricting water usage in the Window Rock area. C. Mac Eddy, director of the tribal enterprise, said his office has contacted the Navajo Police, which has agreed to help monitor the use of area residents who water their lawns.
