In the wake of the tornado that struck southeastern Utah, the Diné Hataałii Association Inc. issued a statement calling the storm both a tragedy and a warning, urging Diné to turn back to traditional teachings.

A tornado tore through the Montezuma Creek, Utah, community Saturday afternoon, destroying several homes and prompting emergency agencies to open a local school as a shelter. Authorities confirmed there were no reported injuries.

Clara Pratte, a Diné business owner and energy expert with two decades of public service, announced Monday that she is running for the Arizona Corporation Commission, pledging to cut utility costs and hold power companies accountable.
