Council, Nygren clash over $24 million tied to ZenniHome housing contracts

The 25th Navajo Nation Council renewed its push to account for $24 million linked to Executive Branch contracts with ZenniHome during the controller’s report at the Spring Session last week, and President Buu Nygren’s office responded Wednesday with a Facebook post saying no money has gone missing and accusing Speaker Crystalyne Curley of advancing a misleading narrative ahead of her run for the presidency.

A New Mexico couple who ran an Albuquerque wholesale jewelry company pleaded guilty in federal court April 20 to importing jewelry from Vietnam and selling it to American buyers as authentic Navajo and Native American handmade work, capping an undercover operation in which agents bought thousands of dollars of the counterfeit pieces at North Carolina trade shows.
