Choice Wireless offering 4G LTE on Navajo
WINDOW ROCK
The Navajo Nation may lack a lot of things but 4G LTE service isn’t one of them anymore.
For almost a year Choice NTUA Wireless has provided the Navajo people with high-speed internet.
Although the internet services are only available on the Navajo Nation, its 3G cellphone service is available nationwide, according to Craig Wauneka, wireless sales team leader in Fort Defiance.
According to Wauneka, the cellphone coverage expands across the United States due to partnerships with Verizon and Sprint.
“We’re trying to give people access to services they never had,” Wauneka said.
Currently Choice NTUA Wireless is offered inside of six NTUA offices. Those offices are located in Tuba City, Kayenta, Shiprock, Fort Defiance, Chinle and Dilkon.
Additional coverage has been added in Chinle and Fort Defiance. There are also three new cell sites in Shiprock, 10 new cell sites from Shiprock to Farmington, and Burnside Junction has also been added to the coverage area, according to Clyde Casciato, general manager for Choice NTUA Wireless.
“We were truly formed to service the Navajo people on the Navajo Nation,” Casciato said.
