Rashaun Nez’s dream is for a healthier Navajo Nation, and the $10,000 Dreamstarter grant he is receiving will go a long way to help fund that dream.

Nez, 20, resides in Lower Fruitland, N.M. and was named one of 10 2015 Dreamstarter grant recipients from the Running Strong for American Indian Youth organization, founded by Olympic gold medalist Billy Mills.

“It’s a pretty good blessing. I’m just thankful that I can help other people,” Nez said of the announcement.

Nez’s dream involves helping his people improve their strength and well being by teaching them fitness techniques during weightlifting and cardio-intense classes.
