‘Sacred moment’: New Diné attorney Shandiin H. Herrera earns membership in the Navajo Nation Bar

At 28, Shandiin Herrera has already traveled far beyond the sandstone walls of Monument Valley, but early this month she returned home in the most meaningful way when she stood before the Navajo Nation Supreme Court to take her oath as a member of the Navajo Nation Bar Association.
Herrera is Táchii’nii and born for Nakaii Dine’é. Her maternal grandfather is Bit’ahnii and her paternal grandfather is Nakaii Dine’é. She is the daughter of Jenae and Jose Herrera of Tsébii’ndzisgaii.
