Another opening day of Navajo Nation Council quarterly session has taken place and another empty seat goes unfilled as Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren displays his lack of leadership and accountability to the Navajo people.

I recently bought your paper and wanted to let you know how enjoyable it was to find a full-size comprehensive local newspaper again. I worked on a small paper for six years as a younger person––learned all about typesetting and platemaking and camera work. And eventually retired from the printing business.

In February 2023, I, Alexander Chambers, a Navajo citizen and experienced restaurant owner and operator in Farmington, N.M., reached out to the Office of the President and Vice President of the Navajo Nation, the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development, the Shiprock RBDO, and the Navajo Nation Shopping Center with a proposal to invest in and build a new restaurant in Shiprock, N.M., on the Navajo Nation.

Some of you know that I am a Republican, but I voted blue during the General Election to help make history by having a woman as president of the United States. It didn’t work out. Of course, there are parties always asking for money donations, even after the election.
