CHINLE – A new poll has revealed strong bipartisan support among Utah voters for the continued protection of public lands as national monuments.

Conducted by Lori Weigel of New Bridge Strategy, the survey gathered responses from 500 voters across the state, finding that two-thirds support the safeguarding of places like Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante. The findings underscore Utahns’ commitment to conserving these lands for future generations while balancing cultural preservation and recreational access.

“The support (for protected lands) is evident across party lines,” shared Weigel. “It’s basically two-thirds of Republicans, more than four of five Independents, and virtually all Democrats, that indicate support for the continued use of the authority to designate national monuments.”
