Harold D. Nez

FORT DEFIANCE — A memorial mass for Harold D. Nez will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Fort Defiance, with reception to follow.

Harold was born May 7, 1957, in Fort Defiance, to Susie Teller Nez of Ma’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass-Jemez Clan) and to Harry Nez Sr. of Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan). He was called home by his Heavenly Father in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Aug. 2, 2017.

Harold was a resident of the Phoenix metro area, before settling in Scottsdale, where his work experience in the telecommunications field led him a few years after graduating from Window Rock High School. He was very enthusiastic about sports, participating in both basketball and baseball.

Harold is survived by his wife, Jennifer Bradley-Nez of Scottsdale; son, Nicholas Nez of Farmington; mother, Susie Nez of Fort Defiance; sister, Ophelia Nez of Fort Defiance; brother, Harry Nez Jr. of Phoenix; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.

Harold is preceded in death by his father, Harry Nez Sr.; brother, Harlan Nez; sister-in-law, Patty (Harry’s wife); maternal grandparents, John and Elsie Teller of Natural Bridge-Fort Defiance; and paternal grandparents, Charley and Yilnabah Nez of Cross Canyon, Ariz.

Jennifer Lewis Yazzie

HOUCK, Ariz. — Funeral services for Jennifer Lewis Yazzie, 36, will be held today, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. (DST) at the Good News Church in Houck, Ariz.

Jennifer was born Oct. 2, 1980, into the Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan), born for Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan). She died July 29, 2017.

Jennifer graduated from Navajo Pine High School in Navajo, N.M. She enjoyed listening to music, making jewelry and decorating crafts.

Jennifer is survived by her daughter, Colleyia Mary Tso of Houck; mother, Bessie Ashley of Sanders, Ariz.; father, Jimmy Lewis Yazzie of Querino, Ariz.; brothers, Donovan Lewis Yazzie of Burntwater, Ariz., and Jameson A. Curley of Houck; and sisters, Tracey Lewis Yazzie of Houck, and Jamie A. Curley of Gallup.

Jennifer is preceded in death by Mary Lewis Spean, Cody Fred Tso, Ben Spean, Maggie Ashley, and Junior Ashley.

Pallbearers will be Eric Anderson, James Golden, Arnold Joe, Jonah Castillo, Floyd Hubbard, and Lester Arthur.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
