HOLBROOK, Ariz. — Funeral services for Irene M. Yellowhair, 92, were held Aug. 6 at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Holbrook, Arizona. Interment followed at the Holbrook City Cemetery.

Irene was born July 29, 1926, in Houck, Arizona. She passed away Aug. 1, 2018, in Holbrook, surrounded by her family.

Irene was a homemaker who loved sewing, making quilts and cooking. She would sing and read her Navajo Bible, songbook and was always caring and ready to help.

Irene is survived by her children, Lorraine Max of Fruitland, New Mexico, Louise Bufford of Holbrook, Jack Yellowhair of Indian Wells, Arizona, Lena Gishie of Holbrook, Emery Yellowhair of Indian Wells, Tommy Yellowhair of Page, Arizona, and Jerry Yazzie of Fruitland; sister, Rita Thomas; and brother, Steven Bahe.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Yellowhair; mother, Zonnie Grant; sisters, Esther Parson and Betty Brown; brother, Jackson Yazzie; daughter, Darlene Yellowhair; son, Donald Yellowhair; grandson, Tom D. Max Jr.; great-grandson, Phillip Sanchez Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Lealia Richards.

Greer’s Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

GALLUP — Funeral services for Michael Cometsevah (Indian name: Wo’ef Doish — “Alights on the Cloud”), 42, were held Aug. 3 at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, with Rev. Tim Honerzyl officiating. Interment followed at the Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, Oklahoma.

Michael was born Dec. 11, 1975, at the Rehoboth Christian Hospital in Gallup, into the Bow String Society, born for Cheyenne Arapaho Tribe of Oklahoma.

His nali is Jennie C. Barton; chei is Stewart Barton. He died July 30, 2018, in Gallup. Michael attended ITT Technical Institute in Albuquerque, receiving a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering technology.

He worked in various technology fields in Denver and Chicago.

Michael then came to Gallup and set up Slopshot Billiards Business. Later he became involved in establishing a City Billiard League. He also became involved in creative Native arts and crafts.

Michael is survived by his mother, Virginia Cometsevah; and sisters, Winona Cometsevah, Dr. Cecelia Cometsevah, and Susan Cometsevah.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Cometsevah; and brother, Raymond Cometsevah.

Pallbearers were Sheldon Barber, Brandon Barber, Arten Cometsevah, Terry Baptiste, Rueben Watan, and Kevin Paw.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Harvey Clyde Myerson

ANETH, Utah – Harvey Clyde Myerson, 90, of Aneth, Utah, passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., in Blanding, Utah.

He was born on March 6, 1928.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Sammy Myerson, Curbe Myerson, Frederic Myerson, Avery Myerson, Orlando Myerson, Tammy Myerson-Begaye, Valentina Myerson, Meloney Myerson, Reanna Burch, Krisha Burch, and Trey Burch; his stepchildren, Nancy Brown, Evangelina Arthur, and Matthew Lee; and his brother, Kenneth Myerson.

He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Burch; his son, Cecil Myerson; his wife, Susie Lee Myerson; his stepdaughter, Mitchell Lee; his sister, Hazel Myerson; his mother, Dorothy Bitsilí Myerson; and his father, Clyde Myerson.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 at Desert View Funeral Home in Shiprock.

Tharon James

GANADO, Ariz. — Funeral services for Tharon James, 29, of Ganado, Arizona, were held Aug. 8 at the LDS Church in Ganado. Interment followed in Ganado. Tharon was born May 19, 1989, in Fort Defiance, into the Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People Clan).

He died Aug. 3, 2018, in Ganado. Tharon graduated from Rough Rock High School and attended Tulsa Welding School where he received a certificate as a pipefitter.

Tharon enjoyed fishing, camping, horseback riding, traveling to rodeos, and spending quality time with his family. He had a passion for bull riding and was a devoted father. Tharon is survived by his son, Terrell James of Cornfields, Arizona; daughter, Teliah James of Cornfields; parents, Jerry James and Georgia Lander of Ganado; brothers, Orlando Billie, Olin Billie, and Daron James of Ganado; and sisters, Michelle Lander and Vanessa James of Ganado.

Tharon is preceded in death by his cousin, Lydell Lander; and grandmother, Betty F. James. Pallbearers were Eugene James, Jason Lander, Davidson James, Tyron Begay, Lance Jones, and Olin Billie.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry James, Robert James, and Roger James.

Silver Creek Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Benson Chiquito

TORREON, N.M. — Funeral services for Benson Chiquito, 51, of Torreon, New Mexico, were held Aug. 4 at the Torreon Navajo Mission Church with Jason Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in Torreon.

Benson was born Feb. 11, 1967, in Torreon, into Dziltl’ahnii (Mountain Cove Clan), born for Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan).

He died July 29, 2018, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Benson attended Rincon Marquez from Head Start through 7th grade followed by Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle School. He worked for the railroad and did masonry with Beaty Construction. Benson enjoyed playing volleyball and baseball, listening to classic rock, and doing mechanic work.

Benson is survived by his wife, Victoria Chiquito; sons, Brandon Chiquito and Landon Chiquito; daughters, Brendal Chiquito, Brandy Chiquito, and Briley Ann Chiquito; father, Bennie Chiquito; sisters, Rebecca Pinto, Renita C. Mestes, and Diane Chiquito; grandparent, Naabah Trujillo; and eight grandchildren.

Benson is preceded in death by his mother, Marietta T. Chiquito; and brothers, Robert K. Trujillo Sr. and Bernson Chiquito. Pallbearers were Kenneth Mestes, Sebastin Martin, Malakhi Toledo, Larry Pinto Jr., Erik Pinto, Larson Castillo, Curtis Castillo, Orlando Trujillo, Jason Dennison, and Roman Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Chiquito, Landon Chiquito, Benny Chiquito, McRon Pinto Sr., Bill Brown Jr., Bill Mestes, Ernest Cowboy, Jason Pablo, Tyson Pablo, and Joseph Pablo.

Bobby Herman Brown

CHINLE — Funeral services for Bobby Herman Brown, 62, of Chinle, were held Aug. 4 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Chinle, with Father PJ officiating.

Interment followed in Chinle.

Bobby was born July 29, 1956, in Ganado, Arizona, into the Tsenabahilnii (Sleep Rock People Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). He died July 31, 2018, in Chinle.

Bobby received an associate’s degree from Diné College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona. He was employed with the Navajo Nation Department of Head Start and Chinle Valley School. Bobby enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, football, going to powwows, spending time with family, and was an avid University of Arizona fan.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Caroline Brown; mother of his children, Wanda Brown; son, Jared Brown; daughters, Adina Brown and Raindine Brown; brothers, Freddie Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Norman Brown, and Edsel Brown; sisters, Lucille Claw, Verna Chee, and Dinah Descheeney; and five grandchildren.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth Brown and Tsosie H. Brown Sr.; brothers, Eddie H. Brown and Tsosie H. Brown Jr.; and grandparents, Maggie Yazzie and Tullie Sage.

Pallbearers were Jared Brown, Steve Reyna, Duane Claw, and Darren Dawes. Honorary pallbearers were Edsel Brown, Norman Patrick Brown, Nathaniel Brown, Freddie Brown, and Aiden Herman Martinez.\ Summit Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
