Obituaries for Dec. 13, 2018

Lawrence Williams

TUBA CITY — Funeral services for Lawrence Williams, 59, were held Dec. 8 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tuba City. Interment followed at the Tuba City cemetery.

Lawrence was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Monument Valley, Utah, into the Yé’ii Táchii’nii dine’é (Giant People Clan), born for Biih bitoodnii (Deer Spring Clan). He passed away Dec. 3, 2018, at his home in Cameron, Arizona.

Lawrence attended Tuba City High School and Window Rock High School. He attended Utah Technical College studying to become an electrician. Lawrence is known for his work as a rancher in the Southern Utah area, spending a majority of life working with livestock and being out in nature. He also worked in the uranium mines and enjoyed meeting new people. Lawrence loved drawing and doing artwork becoming especially known for making bows and arrows.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was well known for his sense of humor and love for country music.

Lawrence is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Upshaw of Fort Defiance, and Lisa Marie Williams of Thoreau, New Mexico; sons, Lance Williams of Thoreau, Lariat Williams and Robertson Williams, both of Monument Valley; and sisters, Linda Williams of Grand Canyon, Arizona, Verlene Henry of Smith Lake, New Mexico, Maeta Beck of American Fork, Utah, Tinna H. Willie of Fort Defiance, Caroline Simpson of Cortez, Colorado, Alma J. Sutherland of Monument Valley, June M. Wauneka of Albuquerque, Velma Perez of Mesa, Arizona, and Audrey Payton of Cameron.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Crank Huskon; father, Jerry Williams; and brother, Alex Williams.

Larry Russell

QUERINO, Ariz. — Funeral services for Larry Russell, 59, of Houck, Arizona, were held Nov. 15 at the Good News Church in Querino, Arizona, with Pastor Eugene Chee officiating. Interment followed at the Houck community cemetery.

Larry was born June 6, 1959, in Whiteriver, Arizona, into the Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan), born for Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). He passed away Nov. 9, 2018, in Querino.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Lenora Brown of Flagstaff, Larlinda Rivera of Gallup, Vivian Russell of Phoenix, Suzan Sam of Farmington, and Taffany Begay of Houck; brothers, Albert Russell of Second Mesa, Arizona, and Gorden Thomas Russell; and sister, Shirley Harry of Pine Springs, Arizona. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Fannie and Louis Russell; and brother, Joe W. Russell. Pallbearers were Darron Russell, Melvin Samuel Rivera, Darryl Russell, Michael Harry, Tristan Harry, Melvin Joseph Russell, and Timothy J. Harry.

Tse Bonito Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
