Jerome Mike Rockmen Sr.

ST. MICHAELS, Ariz. – Funeral services for Jerome Mike Rockmen Sr., 56, of Hunters Point, Ariz., will be held today, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Mary, Mother of Mankind Catholic Church in St. Michaels, Ariz., with Father José Gutay officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Michaels community cemetery.

Jerome was born March 3, 1959, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Honágháahnii (One-walks-around Clan). He died Jan. 14, 2016, in Payson, Ariz.

Jerome attended Window Rock Elementary School, Fort Defiance Elementary School, Crystal Boarding School, Aneth Community School, Tohatchi High School, and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque.

Jerome worked with the Navajo Nation Police Department, Frazier Shows of America and other various jobs. He enjoyed fishing, cookouts, butchering, and camping.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Linda Rockmen; sons, Roger Tsosie, Jerome Rockmen Jr., Dustin Rockmen, Justin Rockmen, and Kenzie Rockmen; daughters, Michelle Tsosie, Verlene Watchman, Rochelle Perry, and Edith Rockmen; brother, Larry Mike; sisters, Ethel Apache, Eleanor Yazzie and Rosanne Hoskie; and 15 grandchildren.

Jerome is preceded in death by his father, Jerome Mike Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Billie; son, Armando Lee Mike; and nephew, Johnson Apache Jr.

Pallbearers will be Lanbert Perry, Jerome Rockmen Jr., Jerome Cleveland, Jeffrey Hoskie, Jeremy Sherman, Kenzie Rockmen, Justin Rockmen, and Lionel Slinkey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Mike, Dustin Rockmen and Sam Slinkey.

A reception will take place at St. Michaels Chapter House following services.

Sarah H. Perea

TORREON, N.M. – Funeral services for Sarah H. Perea, 51, of Torreon, N.M., were held Jan. 18 at the Jesus Mission in Torreon, with Pastor Stephen Archibald officiating. Interment followed in Torreon.

Sarah was born into the Tl’ógi (Weaver-Zia Clan), born for No’dail’ Clan. She died Jan. 11, 2016, in Torreon.

Sarah graduated from Cuba High School and was employed in home care. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Bob Marley, watching movies, and spending time with her family.

Sarah is survived by her sons, Eloy Juan Perea, Roland Julian Perea and Harold Sherman Perea II; daughter, Sarah Rose Perea; brothers, Donald Harold and Stanley Harold; sister, Sandra Harold; and seven grandchildren.

Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sherman Perea Sr.; and parents, Marie S. Harold and Johnny Harold.

Pallbearers were Edison Alonzo Jr., Felipe Toledo Jr., Sheldon Tully, Shaqile Tully, Eugene Tully, and Jerod Sandoval.

Honorary pallbearers were Donald Harold, Stanley Harold, Eloy Perea, Roland Perea, Harold Perea Jr., Sherrylynn Nez, and Dwight Harold.

Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

John Johnson Jr.

THOREAU, N.M. – Funeral services for John Johnson Jr., 91, were held Jan. 16 at the Church of God in Thoreau, N.M. Interment followed at the family plot in Continental Divide, N.M.

John was born Feb. 20, 1924, into the Kiyaa’aanii (Towering House Clan), born for Tsi’naajinii (Black Streak Wood People). He died Jan. 11, 2016.

John was an Army veteran and former employer of McKinley County Schools at Thoreau Elementary.

John is survived by Garry Johnson, Alice Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Ester Johnson, Matilda Johnson, Regina Johnson, and Timmie Johnson.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Johnson, Kimberly Tahbo, Christopher Tahbo, Harold Mariano, Charley Long Sr., and Gerald Emerson.
