GREEN BAY, Wis. — A Celebration of Life for Kathy Vann, 76, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, will be held Friday, Oct. 12, at the Holy Cross Church in Green Bay. Burial will follow in Green Bay. Kathy was born June 2, 1942, in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

She is German, born for Dutch. She passed away Oct. 6, 2018, in Green Bay. Kathy received a bachelor’s degree in education and was a teacher for 45 years with BIA in Greasewood and Toyei, Arizona, and Ganado Unified School District.

She taught 7th and 8th grade reading and 2nd grade. Kathy was a rodeo timer for the All Indian Rodeo Cowboys Association and co-sponsored events/activities for students at Toyei Boarding School. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and making canvas displays. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Elaina Vann and Leah James; mother, Marie Van Dam; brother, Paul Van Dam; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Leo Van Dam; and husband, Lafel Vann.

A gathering for family and friends will take place today, Oct. 11, at the Ganado Chapter House from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pfotenhauer Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Edwin Allison

TOHATCHI, N.M. — Funeral services for Edwin Allison, 56, were held Oct. 10 at St. Mary’s Mission in Tohatchi, New Mexico. Interment followed at the family plot, El Paso Plant, in Tohatchi.

Edwin was born April 11, 1962, in Fort Defiance, into the Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii. He died Oct. 7, 2018, in Tohatchi.

Edwin loved bingo and cheered for the Tohatchi Cougars. He enjoyed watching old movies, sports, and listening to music. He was a very cheerful and friendly individual.

Edwin is survived by Barbara Olvera, Edwina Allison, Elmer Allison, Eugenia Allison, Erwin Allison, Eldred Allison, Elaine Allison, and Earlando Allison. Edwin is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane Allison; and father, Edward Allison.

Pallbearers were Irvin Attson, Virgil Attson, Marvin Allison, Robert Jones, Robert Olvera, Joseph Gonzales, Tarrell Allison, and Alvin Begay. Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Dollie Parrish Purley

CUBERO, N.M. — Funeral service for Dollie Parrish Purley, 77, were held Oct. 6 at the Laguna Acoma Baptist Church in Cubero, New Mexico.

Dollie was born April 16, 1941, in Ganado, Arizona, into the Áshiihí (Salt People Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). She died Sept. 29, 2018, in Gallup. Dollie was employed with the Indian Health Service for 25 years. Dollie is survived by her daughter, Sydney Purley; and four grandchildren.

Rollie Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Rayven Joe

LUPTON, Ariz. — Funeral services for Rayven Joe, 25, will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Tse Si Ani Baptist Church in Lupton, Arizona.

Burial will follow at the Ashley Family Plot on Allentown Road.

Rayven was born Jan. 13, 1993, at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, into the Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle Clan), born for Naakai dine’é (Mexican Clan). His nali is Tsenabahilnii (Sleep Rock People); chei is Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House). He died Oct. 6, 2018, in Mesa, Arizona. Rayven graduated from Window Rock High School in 2012.

Rayven is survived by his father, Ray Joe; mother, Carol Joe; brothers, Rueben Joe, Rayfurt Joe, and Rayson Joe; and sisters, Raenita Joe and Raquel Joe. Pallbearers will be Rayson Joe, Ruekwon Joe, Dominique Lynch, Marc Hillis, Raygil Wauneka, and Ernest Sam Jr. Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
